@Nikola, we're making Martin switch to being a center half already?

Edit: just realized that the official site has him as a central defender. That's curious

Kelly just doesnt fit as a RB in BRs system. It is ok when Sterling is in front if him, b/c Sterling provides width, but not when Downing, Suarez, or Borini are in front of Kelly.

I would really like to see him pair with Coates at CB in an EL match, but I doubt we would see that as Carra will probably be playing in the EL matches.

I copied the majority of such content from the official website and edited it when I felt the need to but I missed that one.

He's blowing hot and cold this season but I hope that we can sort him out. He will probably be Carra's replacement once he hangs up his boots. I hope that Flanagan and McLaughlin can progress well, though it's the latter who seems like the better fit for Rodgers' system.

He hasn't seemed to progress too much since this time last year, but its unfair to expect him to have done. He's not gotten a consistent run in the team, instead only being used when Glen or Jose were out. That's not how young players get better.

I thought he had a rather good game today - I remember him talking on multiple occasions about how he relishes clashes with Man U. Nothing went by him - it was no wonder Ferguson subbed Nani and not some other player for Scholes. Too bad about his injury, it was plainly unlucky. Nemanja Vidic did his ligaments in a similar way but I hope it's not that serious. Anyway, our kids who had playing time haven't let us down but some younger ones will have to rise and step up to the occasion.

I thought he was excellent. Bossed his side defensively. He got forward well and while he did put in a few bad balls there were also quite a few good ones. Shame about his injury, not least because Enrique will probably be back in the side despite his atrocious form.

Yeah, thought he was very good too. Hasn't had the best of starts to the season but he was much better today.

His injury looked pretty bad, hopefully it isn't, we're going to need him.

I really hope he's not out injured. Him on the right and Glen on the left is a fantastic defense. I'm surprised to say it, but Martin looks very good at moving the ball with his feet and supporting the attack and he's a brick wall in defense. His crossing could use a bit of work but he's a hell of a player otherwise

Hope it's not too serious, but watching the replay of when it occured I'd not be surpised if he's out for at least a few weeks. But saying that it's always hard to judge how bad an injury actually is from clips. Lucas' didn't look to bad and he was sidelined for 7 months.

Paul Rogers@PaulRogersLFC

Early @LFC injury update: Borini (severe bruising, not serious), Agger (not as bad as 1st feared but more tests due), Kelly looking bad

Oh, God... The most stupid and unluckiest of injuries.

About his performance, well, he never had a problem so far playing against United, was very solid.

Second, real pity with his injury. Hope he puts some more muscle on that height of his when he recovers which I think he admitted lately that he has to.

Seems that he's out for three months, but the nature of the injury not confirmed yet. Get well soon kid.

I really wonder who will take over his role in the squad now. Wisdom seemed pretty comfortable in it against Young Boys but we must not foget Flanno. I wonder how he has been progressing over the course of last few months - I think he is injured at the moment, though.

I'm a bit heartbroken for the lad. He waits and waits to get his chance, takes it very well, and then is forced into a long layoff. Its a shame, not the least because he hit the ground running this time. His defense was as solid as ever and those (like myself) who think that he doesn't offer enough going forward will be encouraged by how well he fit into our smooth passing game. He got forward when he needed to, supported the attack well, and made some very good tackles.

I think Wisdom and Flanno will both have to step up here. Not to mention McLaughlin, who did pretty well in preseason. I don't have too much hope for Flanno's future because I think he's a bit reckless in the tackle and kind of poor with the ball. But Wisdom looked great on Thursday; played the game very similarly to Martin's performance yesterday. McLaughlin could certainly offer a bit of attack against teams with less of a threat down the left.

I think the easy solution, though, is to move Glen Johnson back to the right and plug our new skinhead back into the left side of defense, which is a shame because Jose is so badly out of form and Glen looks good on the left and Kelly made a couple of very good wingers look ordinary on the right.

I would guess a strain or partial tear to the ACL, just seeing how his knee moved.

I would think Johnson and Enrique will return as starting fullbacks on the left and the right for league games and Wisdom to remain playing in Europa League.

Wisdom, Robinson, Flanagan and perhaps McLaughlin and Sama will surely get more of a chance from this. Too bad this had to happen for it, though

I'd rather I ruptured my ligaments than the likes of Lucas and Kelly. They are two extremely good and humble lads who have worked hard through different kinds of adversity, never let their head drop and showed that they really care about LFC by always giving their best. He wasn't an established first team player at the moment of his injury but I'm still gutted. I doubt he will play again this season. I hope that Wisdom and Flanagan can step up to the plate now.
