There is a very well known and oft touted saying in sport “You can only beat what’s put up against you.” Well, today we thrashed what was put up against us. Swansea played with heart and passion with some really gritty defending, things that have been missing from some of our recent games. It did them no good though as we took them to pieces like TNT in a house of cards. I think the exact description would be evisceration.
A supreme performance from our new wonder-kid Coutinho who seems as happy to use his heals as his instep. Such a variety of touches and control, he has a future as bright as our own. His maiden start capped off with an excellent goal, there have been few better first home games. The jury is back in and the forman has delivered a verdict that he’s a bloody genius and why did some waste his time with the case in the first place?
Suarez and Sturridge seem to be developing an understanding that’s looking awesome. They know where the other is and play accordingly, again boding really well for the future. There have been questions about BR's signings but his most recent two look to be absolute bargain stars. Borini looks like he's really done his shoulder though, good look to the guy, he's really not had much luck of late.
5 goals in the end (not the 6 I predicted
) which will help our goal difference but more importantly, our confidence. Questions should be asked as to where this level of performance was in recent matches. As the commentator said (and somebody in the pre-match thread) when we’re good we’re very good and when we’re not we’re terrible. We’re like an aircon unit without a thermostat, we either blow freezing cold or red hot. This needs to be addressed and only BR can write out the envelope.
Personally, I think it’s brilliant that we CAN blow red hot.
Take it away guys and girls ![]()
Edit, can somebody edit the score please? I was assuming we'd get a 6th to match my prediction.
