That tackle from Stevie on Pienaar was fucking brilliant. Not a foul, never a booking. Hard, just like he'd go in 10 years ago.

I agree with the guy who said babel was useless. Showed no pace, tripped himself up more than once and was comming way too deep.

Seriously don't think he's got a hope in hell at turning things round like nani has. Also don't think insua is good enough especially as I'm watching bale have yet another very good game.

But I'll revel in the result and rub it in on my blue noes mates.

Seemed like, after half time when Everton may have been told to calm it down a little, they had nothing to offer, like spurs a couple of weeks ago.

We did well today well with 10 men and took the 3 points now if spurs can lose to villa...

Great news that City lost too!

Really impressed with today, Dirk - what a trooper, I just want to give you a big hug!

Thought it was really funny the way he went to the ref in the second half and pointed at his face where Fellani twatted him.

Happy Happy Happy, great confidence booster! Lets keep it up now lads

But even Torres cant score every 15 minutes he gets on the pitch.
i disagree a bit. it may have been clear what babel's job was today, and obviously it was not to attack the entire back 4 of everton and grab some insurance.

my problem with him today, and apparently i'm not alone, was, as someone put it well elsewhere in the thread, his obvious lack of passion. when i said earlier that he was like a chicken with his head cut off, i didn't imply that he was making certain runs for long balls or anything of that nature, but more that he really seemed like he had absolutely no direction on the pitch. If he had started the game, or if it was Torres or anyone else, I could understand some patience while waiting for a chance to strike, but he came on as a sub, while we were protecting a one-goal lead. I would have expected him to get more involved, and when he did have possession, to take his time and control the ball, the game, and the clock. He didn't. He seemed sporadic and rash, and made horribly half-assed attempts to pressure the everton squad when they had possession. One instance that comes to mind was him jumping in very late as if he were attempting to block a clear. Kuyt Stevie and Maxi, while not lone strikers today, came back and worked their asses off to protect the advantage. I'm not saying that Babel should have been coming back into the 18, but when he did have a chance to defend and pressure, he refused the opportunity, and in doing so, he refused the opportunity to help his club, that he says he feels so passionately about, secure a vital 3 points.

I just can't figure Babel out. He's got some skills, and he's made absolutely brilliant impacts on matchs the past few seasons despite an otherwise disappointing career at Anfield. He says he loves liverpool and he wants to succeed and find a place in the starting XI, so why would he not give his best effort (or at least something similar) when he's afforded just 25+ minutes to prove himself?

i just have one thing to say ...
Babel=Bentley, because they are just not willing to work hard..... Rafa saw something in babel and even in bentley(we were heavily linked to bentley)....
but those players just want to pick up the paycheck.....
plus we really did miss the time when defoe was available......

Bentley has looked good since Lennon has got injured so I suggest you don't run the rule by type.

Good result. More perspiration than inspiration, as it has been for the past month. We're a long way from the top, but I'll take the three points. We continue to build. A victory over Arsenal could have us within two points of third, depending on the match tomorrow.

The problem I noticed with Insua is he is constanstly looks at the ground. Once he stops looking down at the ball and watches the movement on the pitch I feel his play will improve greatly. He makes rash decisions because he does not use the whole field.

Well this was a very interesting game today. I'm very glad now that Rafa didn't bring on Aquaman, Riera, or Pacheco. This game was straight dirty from the first minutes till the final second, but what do you expect from a derby? I thought once the Greek got sent off is when we really started to push forward. It was clear that Liverpool wanted this game today more than Everton.

I gave my MOTM to Mascherano, because he was playing everywhere. This guy is just a fucking monster. I still think he got away with a yellow card though the first half. Oh yea, who was the guy who bet on Mascherano getting a yellow card today? I bet he's pissed off :p.

The other results from today couldn't have gone any better! Well I hope that Fabregas gets a red card tomorrow, and he has to sit next match vs us :)

A very good battling performance from our boys. Fully deserved the win.

Great atmosphere in the stands and a great attidude and desire shown on the pitch. I was very proud of the boys today.

From the stands I was pretty shocked to see Kyrgiakos recieve a red card as I didn't have a great look at the tackle, however I recieved a text saying it was two footed so I guess in this day and age you are always running the risk of recieving a straight red. (Although I am looking forwards to seeing it replayed on M.O.T.D)

Although I was bitterly disappointed to see us go down to ten men, I was also very relieved to see the back of Fellaini. He's rough, but effective. He was winning everything in the air and is such an important part of their team.

I was expecting it to be backs against the wall stuff in the second half but I'm sure Everton fans will be very disappointed as their team simply didn't do enough. Lack of movement and creativity and barely threatened. They totally failed to capitalise on the extra man. We simply seemed to want it more and it showed in the performance and the result.

Mascherano was fantastic, did ever so well moving to right-back. He is 'The Monster'.

Insua, bar from one or two moments, played well.

Dirk gave one of his better performances of the season and scored AGAIN against Everton.

Carra was excellent. Got forwards well at right back and was solid (as per usual) at centre back.

Ngog served as a better outlet than Babel.

Reina equals legend. I absloutely love the guy and he loves the club. A couple of good saves aswell.

    M.O.T.M: Mascherano

Come on you redmen! A celebratory drink is in order me thinks.

Great game apart from Kyriagos send off. Fellini should of send off before when he kicked Kuyt in the face.
Masch motm. His passion is second to none.

Superb victory....big players like Stevie, Kuyt, Jamie and Mascherano really stood up to the mark-all were like captains today!!

Delighted to see Maxi get the 90ish minutes; no harm! Not a great performance but flashes of composure and quality.
Insua looked solid; as did Lucas who was more than willing to break from midfield!

Great days work; all our rivals dropping points!!

We're having the season from hell; Good Ol' 'Arry has Spurs flying...yet we're a point ahead!! The fickle nature of sports commentary....

I give Mascherano to be MOTM, especially on the right back position.

We play well and deserve to win. We are playing better and better, since we have crashed against Stoke and Wolve. We got 17 points from 21 as our good record on the second half of season.

A hard fought win today which was made harder by some strange Ref decisions...
I love derby games like that, a pure battle and the players will the biggest fighting spirit normally win the day...

Masch was imense as was kuyt who really put his body on the line...
Most players put in a decent shift, even Lucas looked better...
Maxi i think allowed the game to pass him slightly but it was very fast paced so could be expected!

All in all... good 3 points and even better to do it against Everton with 10 men!

Well from the highlights I saw it wasn’t an end to end game – but definitely an incident packed game.

A blatant push by Fellaini following the free kick Stevey G earned at the start.

    Missed by the ref.

Pienaar defo card on Kuyt & what about the other follow up by Fellaini???

    Missed by the ref.

Definite red card for Pienaar’s tackle on Masca. Pienaar seemed pissed off about Carra’s wonderful ‘welcome’ to the game.

But he was lucky not to have snapped Masca’s leg in two.

Totally unsportsmanlike – more animal like.

If I were Masca I would have challenged him after the game about that. It’s one thing being up for a game – another trying to ruin a fellow player’s career - ala Roy Keane.

Kyriakos’s card was deserved but no way should it have been a red, but then - how did the ref see it?

    He couldn’t.

So then if he “saw” Kyriakos’s foul - how the fcuk did he not see Fellaini’s studs in challenge & stamp on Kyriakos – which in my eyes was far worse than Kyriakos’s original challenge.

Will he get charged by the FA as the ref missed it?

How many did he get away with?

    Three or four?

Everton were lucky that for our goal that the ref didn’t blow up for Chuckle Brother 2 fouling Kuyt, but yet – he still scored!

How the fcuk was Anichebe not sent off his two handed push on Agger? I thought the rules were ‘you raise your hands & you’re off’.

MOTM – can’t really say on 8 minutes worth of highlights – although I’m leaning towards Kuyt, as yet again – he has given us all three points.

    Form guide – 17 in 21??

    Good stuff indeedy.

Really, really enjoying these top run of games & wins against our rivals.

How many consecutive wins have we had over both Manure & Everton now?

    Got to love it.

I wanst to impressed with Ngog. He needs to work on his fysique in my opinion. He just falls to much. Mascherano was amazing even as a back. Carra and Gerrard were playing at the level we know they can (Gerrard can do better but he's showing good signs of improving since coming back from injury). Agger and the Greek looked very solid as a duo. Its bad that we will have to miss the Greek God a few games now. And Kuijt looked very good again, 4 from 4 lately really helped us in absence of Torres. Shame Aquilani didnt play today eventho Im glad it was Lucas on instead of him after the red card. Aquilani needs a few starts in a row in my opinion.
