Bayern is in a bad need to change and revive their squad. It was really appalling to play a 33 yo RB (Lahm), 33 and 34 yo wingers (Robben and Ribery) and a 35 yo CM(Alonso) for most of the game against athletically superior Real. These players have a lot of class and talent, but their physicals are lacking. Many times Bayern lost chances to counter due to the lack of pace.
I mostly enjoyed the game, but since this is the first non-LFC game I've seen in a while, it felt weird and "out-of-home".

    Very funny.
But maybe dominating the BL doesn't mean too much when it comes to the CL.

I just asked because you might have been referring to bayern "dominating" the CL.

Most people would consider that Bayern pushed themselves into the elite group of clubs in 2009-10 when they made the final and went into it as favourites. Since then they have made at least the semi finals all but one time (the following year), which is a run of consistent success in the tournament that is bettered in its history only by Real Madrid's current run. It was pretty clear what he was talking about.

You have to think Bayern are going to take a real run at Sanchez this summer.

That would be great. Plus, him out of Arsenal is a massive plus; they don't deserve a player like him.

Speaking of Sanchez, i wonder what they'll do with Sanches? They need to start playing the kid soon and give him a chance. How many BL/CL games has he seen this season? probably little to none.

Actually, I think he got a couple of starts in the group round. I don't follow the BL much at all, but my impression is that he got BL time when Ancelotti was rotating in anticipation or after a CL match. For a 19-year old, I don't think his playing time is problematic.

Obviously there is now a spot for him with Alonso retiring. He is seemingly still behind Kimmich in the pecking order, but with Lam also leaving maybe there is room for both of them to force themselves into the first XI.

I saw a report of last night's game that gave Ronaldo 10 out 10. You know, for being utterly useless for the majority of the game, to the point that if it wasnt Ronaldo he would have been taken off, and then scoring one admitedly good goal followed by two offside goals.

Yep, Mbappe truly is The One alright. Monaco will make a killing with the transfer fee. 50m starting bid.

Edit: that figure is for his left leg only lol.

Mbape scores after 3 minutes. Simple finish in the end, but watch his movements before getting the chance...wise beyond his years. He didnt get the ball where he initially wanted it, so made a second movement. Mendy shot instead and so Mbape just turned to follow it in. Subtle, but impressive.

My last 4 prediction only Leicester let me down. Damn it, should have hedged my bet with another one putting Atletico up in there. Silly me. So far Real and I believe Monaco all confirmed, hope Juve don't let me down.

Monaco looking the real deal this year. BVB simply not good enough atm. Looks beyond reach now unfortunately, but Monaco deserve it fair and square. They play a very watchable brand of non-shit footy. Dortmund are getting pressed BVB 2013 style

This also makes Spurs' elimination look a bit different. I have seen people refer to it as the weakest group, yet it consisted of a team who gave Atletico an almighty fright in the first KO round and the surprise package of the tournament who now look on course to a semi

Interesting lineup for BVB. Why no Pulisic, Dembele or even Castro?

There have been plenty of openings in this game for Barca, but they've snatched at everything like it was a last minute chance.

lol I like that, can I steal that? Tired of writing about "pacy attackers" we're supposedly looking at, should be the vroom-vroom factor (goes from 1 to 10).

Frances' front 3 in the near future: Greizmann, Dembele and Mbappe.

Even in an era of great front 3s, that looks potentially pretty special.
