@RedCanuck099 , Thanks for this thread.
    The tournament started with USA - 0 v Columbia - 2

The game was OK, nothing really outstanding and the game more or less played out as expected.
Columbia are a solid team and as expected.
Cristian Zapata scored on 8 mins with a nice finish and James Rodriguez scored a pen (dodgy decision) and was substituted in the 2nd half due to injury.
USA still in transition with Klinsman, he is under pressure there but can come good for the World Cup, if he still has the job.
Dempsy did have a reasonable showing but nothing special and I found their "key" player Bradley was not very effective.

Opening ceremony was drab, and stadium only had about 30% of the fans there for it. Stadium did fill up later.

    Overall:
    Game 6.5 /10
Opening Ceremony 5/10 ( It was better then the FA Cup pregame show)

Why is this in the Euro 2016 section?

I have money on a Uruguay win. Will be tough for them but I think Brazil might be distracted by the Olympics. Argentina are obviously big favourites but Uruguay look more solid defensively.

I don't know why Klinsman is still the manager of the american team..

I think he lost the team and after a disappointment gold cup he should be sacked.

Very true, He has not gained too many fans. He tends to blame and not take responsibility. I get the impression that his project is to prepare for the world cup and every thing else is prep work.

He probably has more fans across the Americas except in the USA, :-)

Mexico v Uruguay today, should be an interesting game.

If Suarez plays today I'm sure we're gonna lose but if he doesn't I think Mexico could win this game, Hector Herrera and Andres Guardado gonna be the key, if they can win the midfielder we have a little advantage.

Our defense is weak, they won't survive with Suarez and Cavani on the pitch, but if there is just Cavani I think they can manage to keep a clean sheet, and Chicharito always manages to get a goal so I think we win 1-0 xD

If you can watch the game pay attention to chucky lozano, he is a 20 year old wing who is one of the best players in the Liga MX, he is linked with Manchester United.

Sorry if I made a mistake, my english isn't good enough.

Firstly no sorry needed for your English, I am sure your English is much better then my Mexican/Spanish. :-)

Suarez, from the reports i have read, is still injured and may be fit for the final group game or later if they progress.

Thanks for the tip, I will keep an eye on Chuky Lozano.

México played a very good game in the first half and got a goal early in the game, but in the second half Uruguay with 10 players was the best team until they tied the game.

After that Mexico took the control of the game and the win, Mexico 3-1.

You also became unofficial world champions, congratulations.

To compound the misery of losing the title of unofficial world champions the organisers played the Chilean national anthem instead of the Uruguayan one.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36457918

This happens way too often at major sporting events...there's no excuse for it either.

It was a good game to watch.
The organizors got the National Anthem wrong, :-). Funny moment, if only the camera team could have got a better shot of the crowd and then the some camera shots of the organizors faces who realised they got it wrong...
For me it was the best game so far of the Copa and the goal by Rafa Marquez was really good. i think he is 36/37...
Godin did play well for Uruguay, :well done:

@HG_LFC51 .. you did call this one.. :well done::celebrating:
Well done to Mexico for bringing the game back to life...

No comments on the Brazil-Ecuador game? That was scandalous that the Ecuador goal was disallowed.

It was, I thought others would have posted about it. Not many Equador fans on here..;-)
May be the goal line tech will be expanded as the tech gets better... it may take a lot more incidents to push it "over the line" :-)

Saw the "goal". Didn't catch the reason for it being disallowed. Was it because the ball had supposedly gone out of play prior to the cross?

After yesterdays game they certainly are a good bet,
I played it safe with Argentina and my outside bet would be Colombia.

I have enjoyed the games so far, even though my predictions are wrong..:-)

    Interesting things i have noticed..
Organizers have a real hard time with the National Anthems.. 2 errors so far lol
Referees and Assistants .. WOW... they are very inconsistent, no surprise there.
One of the broadcasters (ESPN/FSN??) have a Doctor ??? as an expert on the Referees..
Play acting by some of the players is funny, no surprise there
Fans fighting and throwing objects on to the pitch ... :?:
Interesting article on a USA supporters group https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...rican-outlaws-us-soccer-team-supporters-group

    USA 4 - Costa Rica 0..
Klinsman needed the win to "Save his Job", comments from fans and media alike, and the US goal difference could be the difference they need to get through to the next round.
Dempsey got his 50th international goal, I think Donavan is the only other player to have reached this for the US.
Dodgy penalty decision for me, seen many of these not given in the EPL and past tournaments. I wonder if "Officials are asked to clamp down" or its a one off. Overall USA played better against Colombia then against against Costa Rica. If the US manage not to lose to Paraguay in their final group game they should go through to the next round.

Costa Rica played well, the score line does not reflect this. They did have more of the ball but as the saying goes, "Goals win games". Costa Rica manager Ramirez said in his interview, "I apologize to Costa Rican fans, but I don't apologize to soccer, because this was a good game." Costa Rica did not embarrass them selves even with 2 losses from 2 games. I did not expect them to get through the group and some of their play was entertaining.

    Colombia 2 - Paraguay 1
Paraguay failed to get a draw from this game, they certainly gave it a go but going down to 10 men after pulling a goal back made it harder. Romero(sp) got 2 yellow cards in the space of a few mins, 3 mins I think, both were deserved. But similar challenges had gone unpunished in the game and other games in this tournament. 3 Place was expected for them. They Take on the US in their final game of the group and it is a must win game for them.. Should be worth watching.

Colombia, played well and managed the game well. Second goal was good interplay between Cardona and James for James to score.
Colombia are top of the group as expected, 2 games 2 wins and unless something catastrophic happens in their final game they should go through as group winners.

The US vs Costa Rica game a was a cracker. The Ticos looked very impressive and much the better side before they conceded that silly penalty - it might be considered soft by some, but it was a clear and needless push in the back.

Agree the game was a cracker and my post did not give enough justice "The Ticos" performance.
As for the penalty, it was a clear push, and i am partial to the underdogs in games. Unless we are playing then I say "lets go and stuff them good and proper like" lol

I havent watched that many games yet, but what I have seen the entertainment value is way above what I remember from the last Euros and what I am expecting of the coming one. Both this and the Argentina vs Chile game the night before was like watching Klopp vs Bielsa on PCP.

A lot of passion and skill and we still have not seen Messi or Suarez yet.
Is it the Latin Blood that does it and if so does Klopp have Latin heritage?:-)
