    Great for Hungary.
    Pulling for Ireland tmrw.
I think a goalless draw puts them through if the away goals rule applies.

Bit used to us getting through by the skins of our arses, but that was fairly deserved, and not as squeaky as I expected it to be. Don't think we were really threatened there until the last 10 minutes when the expected all-out assault came. Nervy last few mins alright between them hitting the crossbar, and the Wimbledon-esque scramble in the box, but...

Over both games I think we well deserved it.Bosnia weren't great but you can only play what's in front of you and we made them look worse than they are, imo.
France next summer may very well be my holiday.

Hah! Dunno how plausible it is, but how great would a group of England, Wales, ourselves and the north be?

The pressure's on for the move now, though - be back in time for the tournament!

You might have to come over early just to set things up for the family when they arrive.About a month earlier than the wife and daughter should do it.

Ireland have done it..they have done their ancestors and families proud...England must fear them now..especially after that dramatic Ray Houghton goal many decades ago...the world realized who the boys in green were.

So pleased the Republic of Ireland made it. After the group they had, plus a play off, they thoroughly deserve to qualify. I have always liked the country and it's people.
I also love the fact that Wales and Northern Ireland, along with England will be there too.

Congratulations to Ireland, what a great game last night. An international sporting tournament with the Irish will certainly liven up the spirit of all the fans. I m so glad for the other home nations Wales and Northern Ireland. These teams play with great heart and spirit. So glad for their fans, hope they have a great time there. Tbh, I am more excited to see these countries play than I am England.

    Who wouldn't?
I guess all of them at least have a (semi)decent manager compared to ours :-)

All-of NI, Wales and Ireland will just make up the numbers, very probably. All very exciting stuff to see them all there (and very good for the loyal fans too).

The team that might do so much better though (and the only one) is just saddled with an antiquated manager here. I have no faith in Roy at all.

    Me neither.
He is good enough in qualifiers against teams like switzerland, ukraine etc.
But as soon as they have to play strong opposition, on par with them or even better, it becomes obvious how clueless uncle roy is.
It wouldn't surprise me if england reach the quarterfinals. But to achieve more seems to be impossible with him at the helm.

Seeing as most 3rd placed teams qualify for the KO stages, i'm confident England will qualify no matter what their group is. Would actually prefer to draw Italy in the group phase so we could avoid them in the knockout ro

Odd thing is the teams in pot 3 and 4 worry me for England... The worst draw would be for England....

    England
    Italy
    Poland
    Wales

Even then they should be ok, looking at the groups I could see Wales and Republic of Ireland giving this a go, Ireland will no doubt draw Italy they are like moths to lightbulbs them two.

Can't count Northern Ireland out a last 16 place with the 3rd place teams qualifying, they are very canny against these average ones of Europe and there are plenty in pots 2 and 3.

Outside tip for me is Ukraine, not many stars but they looked strong, especially this week plus their group was not easy.

Now that we know who will be going to France next year the draw for the group stages will take place on Saturday (12th December) at 5pm.

    • Pot 1: Spain (holders), Germany, England, Portugal, Belgium
    • Pot 2: Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Ukraine
    • Pot 3: Czech Republic, Sweden, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary
    • Pot 4: Turkey, Republic of Ireland, Iceland, Wales, Albania, Northern Ireland

Travel prices will jump quickly once the fixtures are announced but if you want to get there first and don't care what game you see you can see the match schedule here:

My ideal group is England, Italy, Poland, Rep. of Ireland.

We won't win the tournament and that would be the group that will add the most spice for an Irish fan.

England and Wales should be able to top that group.
Or at least finish as one of the 4 best group 3rds.
Slovakia should finish 4th, or maybe russia. Russia were horrible during the qualifiers.

And fortunately it also looks good for Austria.

And maybe NI might be able to finish 2nd or 3rd.

Alternatively, England will stutter and stumble their way to 2 draws and a loss....and probably qualify in 3rd place!!!

I think Russia is the real wild card, they really should not be as poor as they were. I could see them winning the group, and I can see them finishing 4th if it all falls apart - although I think they play Slovakia early on, so probably not.

    Not going to happen.
Slovakia, russia and wales ain't italy and suarezguay.
And those were two narrow defeats.

But qualifying as 3rd would do for uncle roy, I'm sure :-)

    England will dominate that group.
Spain and France have an easy path to the semi's.

I'm not sure if a new manager will be enough to turn that russian mess around.
Normally, considering the qualifying campaign, england should win that group.
And I get the feeling it will be a draw vs wales.
