Excellent reminder. I keep meaning to do this, but then forget about it as i'm pretty absent minded at times.

Is there any way to put 'Guest' posters on ignore? My 'new content' list keeps getting cluttered up by certain 'Guest' posters and I'd much rather be able to place particular 'Guest' posters on ignore than have to constantly mark the whole 'TIA news and opinion' sub-forum as 'read'.

Alternatively, is there any way that the articles can be of greater quality, lesser frequency and subject to some sort of editorial scrutiny before they are published?

Unfortunately, there's no way to block an unregistered poster.

    *ahem*

As to the other alternative, this is a question not for the forums, but for the main site, over which we have bugger all control. (At least the mods and admins don't)

But I take it that it would be relatively straightforward to make it so that only registered users could post?

The TIA News and Opinion forum is a feed directly from the main site, and is populated when a new article is posted there. It's automated.

What articles do you feel haven't been "subject to some sort of editorial scrutiny before they are published"?

Most of the articles by Jack Lusby - extremely tabloid, sensationalist headlines that the content doesn't support, inaccuracies, claims that are simply wrong or misleading.

Joseph Cousins writes some decent stuff though, haven't seen anything from him for a while? (Could have missed something though!)

Would appreciate specific examples on Jack's, especially inaccuracies?

Joseph Cousins hasn't written for us for about 3 years.

You're welcome although I can see why you would think my points aren't justified.

I've got to be honest and say your response has annoyed me as I thought that you would care about the quality and accuracy of the articles posted on your site. I even offered to proof-read them for you last year as I really like the site as a whole and wanted to help you produce quality pieces. You've never taken me up on that though and now when I bring to your attention the inaccuracies you consider it laughable. Even repeating the mistake about when the transfer window opens - I'm trying to help you here but instead you think it's laughable that I point out to you where the articles are incorrect.

    As a summary once again:

    Henry Jackson http://forums.thisisanfield.com/threads/mamadou-sakho’s-suspension-for-failed-drugs-test-to-be-revealed-next-week.20422/#post-600865

Says Sakho faces a ban of between 6 months and 2 years.

WRONG - I said it could be as little as the period he had already spent suspended.

You know what happened I presume?

    Henry Jackson http://forums.thisisanfield.com/threads/brexit-liverpool-wouldn’t-have-been-able-to-sign-coutinho-without-being-in-the-eu.20703/#post-611967

WRONG - he would have qualified anyway.

    Lusby http://forums.thisisanfield.com/thr...uspension-after-afcon-snub.22915/#post-689588

WRONG in about four different respects.

    Lusby http://forums.thisisanfield.com/thr...for-liverpool-this-january.23080/#post-694706

WRONG - Klopp wasn't free to approach domestic players.

    Lusby - small improvement http://forums.thisisanfield.com/threads/allan-rodrigues’-hertha-berlin-loan-could-be-damaging-his-chances-of-gaining-a-work-permit.23113/#post-695718

    Lusby http://forums.thisisanfield.com/threads/the-reason-for-joel-matip’s-cameroon-dispute-revealed-in-fifa-ruling.23265/#post-700692

WRONG - it's got nothing to do with a letter

    Lusby http://forums.thisisanfield.com/threads/jurgen-klopp’s-january-transfer-record-at-mainz-dortmund-show-his-reluctance-to-use.23340/#post-703619

    Jackson http://forums.thisisanfield.com/thr...chelsea-after-court-case-date-is-moved.23440/

Never really in doubt as I mentioned about a month earlier http://forums.thisisanfield.com/threads/roberto-firmino-2016-17.20821/page-4#post-690482

    Lusby http://forums.thisisanfield.com/threads/liverpool-considering-legal-action-following-mamadou-sakho’s-uefa-drug-ban-debacle.24398/

This is based solely on the thought that these 'revelations' from UEFA are news to Liverpool which would be strange given that there is nothing in the UEFA report that hasn't been discussed and known about on these forums for more than six months.

    Lusby http://forums.thisisanfield.com/threads/65-majority-–-liverpool-supporters-give-views-on-where-jurgen-klopp-needs-to-strengthen.24460/

As you also incorrectly state that the transfer window opens on 1 July (you're not alone here btw, most media outlets get it wrong but I was trying to help you be a cut above) here's a helpful link https://www.fifatms.com/itms/worldwide-transfer-windows-calendar/

I was merely trying to help.

I have just realised that threads created by those posters you ignore do not appear on my New Posts list. Are those threads hidden in the main list as well then?

Yes, you have to click the unignore link towards the bottom of the main list to see those threads.

No guarantee you'll know I've replied to you though ;-)

Fair play to you for reading them to the extent where you could point out 'inaccuracies'.

I've read a couple over the last few months, convincing me enough to treat them as I do all the tabloids. Bin material.

I know we all like a good animation or gif thing every now and then but I must confess to viewing them kind of like random booby traps when I open a thread. It lags the site, for me, and I do not have uncapped data usage either. For goals in the post match or in threads that are assigned to that kind of thing then yeah, no worries but opening the Premier League thread for example and having to wait for it to load because a random animation is conveying some message that words cannot begin to describe is a leeeetle frustrating.

Not to be a party pooper and I don't want to rain on anybody's parade but on the Rules and Guidelines thread it does state thus:

    • Overuse of Youtube and Images: TIA members can embed images and Youtube videos in their posts. However overuse of images and videos can cause the site to lag for other users, particularly those with slower connections. Please be mindful to not oversaturate your posts with unnecessary media. (Obviously there are some threads, like the Youtube or Astonishing Pictures threads that are an exception to this rule)
    Pretty please?

That is correct. Please use the report button if you see too many gifs in not-appropriate areas of the forum.

is there a way to turn on notifications when someone quotes one of your posts in a reply, or does the @nickname thing?.. actually in the forum, not by email
