Milner central mid, Gomez to left back?

I'm not a huge fan of Milner playing centrally, but he does have one massive thing going for him ( presently)... He is not Emre Can.

Gomez needs a full back slot for a run of games ( opinion), most central defenders start life out there.

There's holes in every theory, but just sticking is not the answer

Haha, "(presently)" are you suggesting that this attribute of his may not be permanent? ;-)

I definately think Emre can is a better player than his current performances suggest......absolutely.

Needs to be given his chance now, playing consistent 90 minutes for the U23's.. Needs to impress so he can be our first choice next season, or at least a proper viable option, rather than Lucas.

To be fair, redbj's response works on the basis that not being Emre Can may not always be an attribute because at some stage being Emre Can might be something positive. His deadpan response (intentional or not) did rather piss on my chips though :-)

Hopefully Gomez will get Klavan's chances from now. At least if Gomez fucked up then we could put it down to a learning period for a young and inexperienced defender... Watching Klavan get routinely bullied is just pointless.

Is he back with the U23s or sitting on the bench with the first team?

That depends on whether Klavan and/or our starting CBs are fit.
If all are fit he can still be on bench as we could be playing 3 at the back.
