    Wow, Barcelona season is collapsing

They were the best team and favorite by far to win everything this season. But now it all collapsed under their feet

Luis scored his 49th of the season after putting in four past Deportivo in an 8-0 demolition tonight. Away from home.

    Bloomin' 'eck.

My love for Suarez is immense. All his on field nibbling aside, what a fantastic player and by all accounts he seems like a nice guy to be around.

Glad for him he was able to complete his wish for playing for his dream club. Keep it up, King Luis.

The top 3 are separated by 1 point and 3rd place has the best goal differential for a tie.
What a finish that's going to be. Gonna need 12 out of 12 puts to win it.

In Spain they look at the head to head record if tied on points so Barca would get it in that case.

Suarez involved in 7 out of the 8 goals rampage. Just saw the game. The whole Barcelona squad looked like they've awaken from the last defeat. Problem they have right now is their rivals are all hitting form too.

Barcelona advantage is no Chanps League to prepare, can concentrate on the league. I still think they will win the league.

BBC emphasising that Villarreal were beaten comfortably by RM:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36075838

Just before that, they lost to minnows Rayo Vallecano. Sevilla look like they've been in even worse form.

Bodes well for the semi and potential final!

The key game is this weekend, where they will be going up against Sociedad away, while Bilbao will be against Levante away too. If Sociedad did a number on Villareal and Bilbao beats Levante, then Villareal's manager will have to decide to go all out in Europa League or put more effort in securing their 4th spot. I don't think they can afford to go out with their reserves against Sociedad because they will be playing before Bilbao who is now only four points adrift.

Spanish League now has 2 groups, 1-3 and 4-6. All separated with such small margins. The top 3 with one point and the 4-6 with six points.

It's nice to see a few leagues with a bit of competition.

    Then you have France.

Bundesliga is not great, but 7 points means that Bayern could slip or something - they just never do. Ligue 1 is just silly, the lead is 28 points with a month left to play, almost half again the number of points in second place. PSG clinched over a month ago with a 9-0 win. Ligue 1 may as well have a second place trophy.

Neymar suffering from loss of confidence in his game. Unlike the Neymar who could do no wrong at one point of this season, the last few games he's been misplace passes, just against Gijon, he should have scored but took too many touches instead of taking a shot and it went to waste.

Another four for for Suarez. He doesn't look particularly interested in collapsing.

Barcelona's bad spell actually coincide with his lengthy spell of not scoring too. Both Neymar and Messi failed to pick up his slack for a month or so. La Liga race is going to go down to who flinched in this staring competition between the top 3. Real led, then Atletico took over and then Barcelona take back the top spot. All in the matter of 4 hours span.

Yeah four goals, two penalties and two open play. Messi and co wants him to overtake Ronaldo's goal tally, and he did just that today.

Crazy as it sounds, there are rumours that Messi really doesn't want to do penalties - his recent record on them is poor.

What happened to the Messi who kept on adding new strings to his bow like set pieces , corners , etc. It almost feels like he has done everything and is now bored and needs a new challenge.

So it looks like all 3 teams for that 4th place drew so it's as you were still not safe for Villarreal and unlike our game next Sunday they need to consider their weekend fixture.

Levante is relegation bound and I was hoping Bilbao to get 3 points and closing in on Villareal. That will make them sweat a little bit more. Very unfortunate that all of them got a point each, which means Villareal is still on the driving seat. Now the gap is 6 points with 3 game to go. Even if they lose the next game, they would only need a draw and a win to secure 4th. So I don't think Villareal is too worried about their opponent catching up now.

I've not seen something like this ever done deliberately.

    http://m.bbc.com/sport/football/36152150

While you have to admire the man and his team for becoming a major player on the Spanish and European stage I've got to admit a personal distaste for him and his team. They just take gamesmanship and the dark arts to another level entirely. I reckon he'd be a perfect fit at Chelsea and that alone says it all really...

Maybe he should join Arbroath and see if he can single-handedly lead them to Champions League glory.

Yeah, all we can hope for is that he stays in southern countries. I wouldn't want to see him anywhere near the premier league to be honest.
