Thread for the new season.
It looks like Bielsa is set to return to Marseille!
Resume back to what last season has left them... top two? Barcelona and Real Madrid....
I can't believe it, Balotelli scored twice on his debut for Nice! Why didn't he make an effort for LFC? Or was he mis-managed by various people.
He said joining LFC was the worst mistake of his life, but, he said the Liverpool fans were fantastic with him and the players were nice to him, it was the last two Liverpool managers were not good with him.
Hummmm, I can't not like him to be honest. I don't think Klopp had enough patience to deal with Mario's eccentric attitude to training.
Vannes OC agianst someone... goalie saves penalty plus to more shots... but how ????
Ballotelli, winning goal and a red card.
6 so far.
Hard not to like him, despite everything telling me I shouldn't.
Nice vs. Lyon tomorrow, Balotelli vs. Lacazette and the first Nice game on tv in the States this year. Great first league game off the international break. Hyped.
Somebody please tell PSG to keep their grubby Parisian mitts off our little magician.
Is that not old news
10/6/16 was during the copa america
Every bloody time Coutinho goes on an International game, scored a goal and an assist, sky will dig out that old news about PSG. If he gets two goals, one of them is a worldly goal and few more assist, mirror/express/daily mail will start their old "Neymar wants Coutinho at Barcelona" nonsense. Before you know it, TIA forum is on a melt down.... "Oh please tell me it isn't so", followed by "If they are willing to pay us £70m, we should take it, Coutinho is inconsistent", and then followed by "Fuck it, we have Lallana and Firmino, if £60m offer comes in, we can contemplate" and finally "Fucking hell, the club is looking to sell their star performer again". He then came back, scored a goal and helped us win a few Premier League games on a trot, all is forgotten.
It's like Brazilians forget about these players unless they get called up (the days Brazil announce their squads is one of the most fun ones in a football season, so many "WTF's") and do something for the national side. I can always imagine his Brazil team mates from all different big clubs trying to lure him out (even if their clubs are maybe not interested or not prepared to pay big money for him just yet).
Rudi Garcia is the new man in charge at Marseille.
Depay cutting it in the french league.
Tolisso's reducer that got him a straight red last night:
Nothing wrong with that like, honest attempt at getting the ball.
Probably the most interesting League in Europe....
Well in terms of who can win it? Surprised to see Monaco return to the top.
Monaco are a very very good side & Jardim has done an exceptionally good job.
I still think PSG have the far superior side and will pip them to it.
I'm gonna say Monaco to nick it in the end. They are well organized and their balance (4-4-2, quite physical at the base with a creator in Bernardo Silva, Lemar from the sides... and Valere Germain as a second striker who works a lot for Falcao) is quite good for a high scoring side (Falcao is having his best goal per minute ratio since his top form at Porto), not so typical in that league lately. Credit to Favre as well for keeping Nice to high up the table as well.
The psg keeper has just had a howler that gifted Lille an equiliser in 86th minute...think it was Arreola?
psg get last min winner curtouesy of a horror call from the lino...2 yards offside
If people think that refereeing decisions are bad here.....which they are.
In the match between Nice and Saint Etienne, the referee has just awarded a pen to Saint Etienne for a ball clearly smacking a defender in the face...absolute joke.
Officiating all over the world is a joke.
Edit: Due to the pressure Nice players, they were forced to view replay footage and decision was overturned.
Who cares Nice are shit.
You pay peanuts you get monkeys.
Refs were always probably a bit shit but no one noticed until the modern era.
Guess who got sent off again today...
Watching this French Cup right now, Monaco taking PSG. The opening ceremony was like some sort of American style super bowl, with all them lights and music and what have you. Now half time, the players stopped to have a chat with the media about how they feel of the game and what is going to come next. Just silly. I hope Premier league don't pick up that damn habit. Irritating.
Your getting old Eddie. It's thought of as modern. It was stolen off Rugby where there was a need to encourage adhesion.
What's going on with Lyon? That's two games in a week for them that have been absolute mayhem.
Typos aside, an interesting article on the resurgence this season of French football:
Did anyone see anything of the PSG game this weekend? Their second goal was absurd.
Matuidi went down right by the keeper so he motioned for them to kick it out and knelt down to see if Matudi was ok. Seeing that PSG still had the ball he started to step back into goal, at which point Veratti launched a rocket from 25 yards catching the keeper out of position. It was made even worse by Draxler standing right in front of him a good 15 yards offside.
Separate names with a comma.
