    Biography: Mr Liverpool

There is a new biography about the Liverpool great Ronnie Moran and his battle with dementia called 'Mr Liverpool'. He gets unfairly over-looked against the other managers in my humble opinion, he was indeed an integral part of the bootroom, he was also Captain of LFC, as well as coach and served twice as caretaker manager. He dedicated 50 years of his life to LFC and we owe him a great debt and gratitude and he should be rightly honoured. I hope the rest of his days are kind to him and he is happy surrounded by love of his family and friends and of fond memories of his time at Liverpool.

Really sad to hear of the passing of Bugsy. Great servant to the club, modest and unassuming, epitomising the very best of Liverpool Football Club.
    Rest In Peace, Bugsy.

RIP. Now this man defines loyalty. Caretaker for us twice as I recalled and led the team out for our Fa Cup final under Souness. Thanks for everything Bugsy.

My dad took me to my first football game at Anfield , he was a Scouser from the Walton area, when I was 9 years old, I stood next to the old dug outs on my little wooden stool.. I'm 57 now.....and heard the voices shouting out orders....Shanks and Bugsy....I loved the atmosphere then and loved the club to this day, although my atmosphere is on the sofa in front of the TV. ...Another sad day ..'dish out the orders Bugsy'...RIP

Legend is a word bandied around far too freely.

In my dictionary, look up legend, loyalty, passion and commitment and there will be no words, just a photo of Bugsy, 'Nuff said.

    YNWA RIP.

The end of a great Era. Mr Liverpool FC is no more.

I could fill this thread with positive things to say about this special man but I'd only be repeating what many of you already know. Players, managers and staff past and present will no doubt be devestated by this news.

For us supporters, remember Ronnie fondly and give thanks that he served our great club as long, as loyally and as well as he did.

God bless you Ronnie. Thank you for your selfless service to our club. Rest in Eternal Peace.

Very sad to hear the news. A wonderful man and a top bloke, the embodiment of what football used to be and indeed what LFC used to be. As soon as something was won it was about the next success, no navel gazing allowed.

I remember warmly his voice carrying across and around Anfield, across to my seat in the then Kemlyn Road, as he was barking out orders from the touchline.

Condolences to his family for their loss.

RIP Ronnie Moran, a legend if ever there was one.

And his whistling. Was there ever a louder whistle in football?

A wonderful man who will be forever be associated with LFC during the most successful period in its history. What an amazing life he had.

RIP Bugsy. One of the all time Anfield greats, and most loyal servants. A man that struck fear into our own players, and commanded respect from the opposition. Hard as nails Left back. Reserve team manager. First team coach. Twice Caretaker manager in 1991 and 1992.

The original boot room is now complete again up past the pearly gates. You'll never be forgotten Ronnie, and you'll never walk alone.

Yes indeed, that whistle. Louder than the ref's!

It's easy to be sentimental, to look back on an era with rose tinted spectacles, or even red tinted ones.

Not every performance was perfect, not every player great, not every season wonderful.

Heaven knows we had our fair share of despair amongst the special moments.

We had many opponents in United, Everton, Leeds, Forest, Villa, Arsenal and we saw them all off over that 30 year period to the early 90s. We were either the winners or the team you had to beat.

That probably won't return, too much has changed, but my word it was wonderful to have had it during one's childhood and young adult years.

There was an aura about the club then and Ronnie was at the core of it.

I would like to think that the club's current owners would want do something special and appropriate to honour this great man. A pre-match minute's silence and black arm bands just doesn't cut it for me - they need to do far more than that. I cannot think of anyone who has done more for or given more to this club.

I would like to see them commision a lasting memorial of some sort that will be a permanent tribute to and reminder of this wonderful man right at the heart of Anfield.

Probably one of the few on here who saw him play including in the old Div 2. Frequently saw him over the years in the local Sainsburys. I was in the same Primary School class as his niece and used to bask in reflected glory lol
