This is a thread designated for discussion of rumours which originate from not-so-reliable news outlets. However, to keep discussion to a level fitting a football forum of TIA's stature, there are certain guidelines that should be followed even in such a frivolous thread.

Banned sources (posting links to them will result in an immediate ban):

    The S*n
    K*pTalk
    Liverpool-k*p

Very unreliable and unwanted sources (posters are strongly discouraged from posting their almost comical, sensationalist transfer rumours):

    Caught Offside
    Duncan Castles
    Metro
    Daily Star
    Fichajes.net
    Sportmediaset
    Tuttomercatoweb
    Calciomercato
    Tribal Football
Various sites which take money by relaying rumours from other sites or rehash old rumours - these will be added to this page at a later date

@Nikola13, while I am in full support of the 3 banned materials, shouldn't the rest be allowed in the unreliable thread? My understanding is only when you get rumours from reliable source, you are allowed to start a thread about the said player. Isn't that what it used to be? So everyone can have a wankfest over their dream players on the unreliable thread... No?

My reasoning is that the likes of Metro and Daily Star write utter garbage and while they are not banned here, I perceive them as papers which insult readers' intelligence by inventing transfer links to get mouse clicks. There are plenty of other sources which are deemed unreliable but sometimes get things right (The Mirror, Daily Mail, Bild, Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport, L'Equipe, France Football, to name a few). You too often see people flipping out because of false Metro reports, let's try to prevent that. :-)

No, mate, that would be like One Direction dudes trying to teach Judas Priest guys to play guitar. :-) We merely think the place would be better without such sources being given attention here. Like I said, there are plenty of others sources for this thread which have at least some credibility.

In fairness, if the Metro reported that it was raining, I'd stick my head out the window to check for myself. Anything they print is almost guaranteed to not ever happen.

TalkSport journalist who has good connections with Liverpool FC. Their equivalent to Express' Paul Joyce if you like. I remember him calling early a transfer of a player to Liverpool this summer, though I honestly can't remember which one, I will try to find it.

Why get Benteke when we already have a better player in Balotelli that fits that type of playing style

    Benteke, fuck my life...

I'm not sure what playing style Balotelli suits, but it's not one I've ever seen before. Table football, possibly... nobody making any runs, ball comes to feet, welly it immediately as hard towards goal as possible...

did you really just say that , balotelli better than benteke? benteke scored more in 1 season in a poor aston villa side than balotelli did in 2 seasons in alot better sides ( man city , liverpool) and to say balotelli fits our playing style? shoots from 40 yards holds the ball way to long to play our passing game and is never in the box when you need your striker to put it in.

Not since the rumor we bid £15m for Illara. Still not sure there has ever been any real substance to the Kovacic rumor.

Maybe BR's been keeping tabs on Emre Can during the U21s and at the same time looking at who may go (Lucas or Allen) before brining someone else in. Can's not a DM, but if we can get back to playing fluid football I think he can be very good as the rear of a diamond on midfield three. Especially if we have hard workers like Milner and Henderson in there with him.

There have rumours about Lucas' exit for a while, whereas there have been rumours about Allen signing a new contract (these were mentioned through some Liverpool Echo articles). I'd be more open to replacing the latter, though, since he's our only natural defensive midfielder and I doubt we could easily replace him with a better alternative.

Yeah but none of those guys are good passers of the ball, none have good ball control, none can control the midfield, none of them are particularly quick either. None of them are real instigators of fluid football, they are the ones that give it up to the better ball players like Coutinho, Firmino and even Lallana and stand aside while they do their thing.

    Yes I did say that

Balotelli is pure class, can hold on to the ball and has great vision when played properly with a strike partner!
Let's not forget about his unbelievable free kicks and penalty record.

Look at what Benteke did the first half of the season last year when played out of position. Nothing!!

Look at what Balotli did when played out of position Nothing!!

If Rodgers thinks he's trading up on Balotelli with Benteke then we have bigger problems than we think.

Don't think Rodgers is planning on having a DM or doesn't think its all that important. I think he wants to play a high line and pressure from the front but probably just feels like he can get away with it like that.

Marseille have sold Imbula to Porto for €23m so he's not going to Inter which could effect our "interest" in Kovacic. Surprised no PL club bought Imbula, great athlete, good box-to-box CM and quite an under-rated player. Jackson Martinez has moved to Athletico for €35m so could afford to buy Imbula.

Also Douglas Costa has moved to Bayern for €30m, no apparent effect on our transfer business though just thought I'd let you all know.

he had 1 ok'ish season when he joined ac milan but alot of them goals were from the penalty spot we don't need a dead ball specialist or penalty kick taker we need a goalscorer from open play. we don't need another striker to assist a striker why we have our flair players. is balotelli going to get 20 goals a season? .... not in a month of sundays. where you get your vision of balotelli being renowned for being pure class is beyond me. has the emirates dished out some of there stuff they have been smoking , because i want some. as balotellis previous mangers have stated hes unpredictable and not reliable and from what i have watched of him over his career he plays when he wants to and spits his dummy out alot more often than that.

Are you talking about the same Balotelli that plays for Liverpool or someone else?

Great vision yep how many assists did Mario have last season, unbeleivable free kicks that resulted in how many goals for the club. He did take a penalty and score thankfully given he cut out future captains lunch to take it and caused another uproar but yeah what a player pure class.

You are right about what Balotelli did last season......Nothing He is the single greatest waste of money this club has ever pissed up the wall. if you actually beleive Benteke is on the same level as Balotelli then your either on the wind up or you should have your vision checked.

If Balotelli was given a proper chance and a fair run of games in a proper setup you would see the same player that destroyed Germsny in the last European cup.

Let's not get to worked up about his behavior with all his previous coaches. I'm willing to admit he was a bad apple in his younger days but he has grown up since.

If you want to see what Benteke is going to be like with a fluid striker like Sturtridge then get some film clips of Andy Carroll trying to play off Suarez.

That's the crap we are going to get.

I'm not Bentekes biggest fan by any means but suggesting Balotelli is a better option is ridiculous.

Balotelli was given a chance with a variety of partners and systems and he failed, worse he didn't even try to make it work.

People talk about one game for Italy as an example of what Mario can do, it's one game, anyone can look lik a world beater for one game, I scored a Hatrick once at schoolboy level and I was bloody hopeless. Look at his track record over his career and it points to a player no where near the level of Benteke and again I'm not his biggest fan but he destroys Balotelli and Carroll in every way you can measure success on the pitch.

The worst thing about Balotelli is that he does actually have talent but HE decides when and where to apply himself and for the most part it isn't very often, certainly not often enough to garner anything like the praise your heaping on him. Once he leaves our club he will keep stepping down levels of prestige until he is playing for some second div club somewhere where he can get away with being a prat.

they are both woefully bad fits for Liverpool. However is it possible that Balotelli is far more the disruptive influence than Benteke would be?

For me just getting rid of Balo and Stirling the attitude of the team becomes more professional from the off. We don't need any pre-Madonna's or idiots around.

Nothing specific to us other than a growing understanding that Inter will likely have to sacrifice one high valued asset to fund all the moves they are making this summer (Kondogbia for 40 million Euros got the attention, but it's looking increasingly likely they are also going to snag Miranda from Atletico, Montoya from Barca and are looking for more). Kovacic seems the best combination of value, sacrificeability (given their other midfielders) and interest, and so I can't help feel that our continued reported interest is less to do with us and more to do with Inter putting feelers out there to see if anyone actually wants him.

Rumors in Swedish media (Aftonbladet) regarding Liverpool and John Guidetti. The rumors concern Liverpool and Tottenham.

This is what Guidetti says to the reporter:
    – They are amazing clubs and Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world. Off course it is a tempting thought. But I trust my agent. I don't know anything right now. I won't know until Friday.
