Would be more than happy with that as it happens. Sturridge is finished here I think, the main question mark over his leaving at this point if how difficult we might find it to attract a buyer. So a swap would work very nicely for us.

    Won't happen, though, of course.

Very much hoping that this isn't the player we've agreed a £30m+ fee for. Not because I don't like him, I think he'd be a useful addition but anything over £20m-£25m and we're overpaying. Plus, some people seem pretty sure he's joining so if there's another player who we've agreed a £30m+ fee for in addition that might hopefully indicate we're getting our shit together.

Who is saying that we've agreed a £30m fee for "a player"?

Yeah, since you mentioned the £30m deal, every player we are now linked with becomes the "oh maybe it's this guy?!" Sometimes there is another word in there that isnt repeatable in polite company lol

Before the Ox link came out, Kopstar told us that his friend told him that the club has agreed a 30m deal with another club and is going to initiate talk with player. And Ox link came out, so most of us here including Kopstar are hoping that ox is not that 30m player.
I am guessing kopstar's friend heard the news from his brother's girlfriend's colleague's cousin's friend's boyfriend's sister who attended the Bbq with Doris.

I actually meant the Kelly bloke who does his annual post of depressing news telling us all we must be cutting our throats at the thought of the Ox coming to Anfield.

Personally I'd have two issues.... the price and the injuries. Then again I don't think he is a number one choice for Klopp and I can't see Arsenal or Liverpool doing a deal until after the season anyhow which is what the bloke on twitter suggests.

Might approach his agent, but a done deal, nah.

Yeah, just imagine if Ox had already been allowed to sign for Liverpool now, and he was playing in a decisive game to decide if Arsenal would get top 4 at Liverpool's expense... You wouldn't think he'd be trying his hardest if he knew that helping Arsenal would mean that he wouldn't play in the CL next season with Liverpool...

It seems odd, but it used to happen all the time that deals for the following season were made and announced while the current season was still on going.

It still happens in Germany... eg. Dahoud is joining Dortmund in the summer, and Sule is joining Bayern.

Yeah, I remember the fuss that was made about Gotze going into the CL final. In some ways it was possibly better for Dortmund that he missed the game with injury

A final is a bit different though, as the player would want to win that award, and winning or losing the final doesn't impact on the following season directly, in a footballing sense. (unless the final is the EL final which ensures CL qualification).

With the league however, the player could literally be impacting his own future financial bonus if he scores a goal that keeps his future club from getting CL football.

Anyways, I wouldn't worry about it as these sorts of deals don't get announced until the summer though.

I like OX but not at the £20-30mill being mentioned,he's got one year left on his contract, his injury record is poor and the fact he'll be a squad player,we should be looking at anywhere between £15-20mill max,and only once we've got our main targets in.Otherwise let him run down his contract at Arsenal and pick him up for free next summer.

Thought he looked decent in the first half. All of Arsenal's chances except the FK goal came through him on the right. Been quiet second half though as Sanchez has hogged the ball down the left more.
