If anybody is interested, here's his story on the Players Tribune website. Quality site by the way and a good read in terms of getting a bit into his background.
It all went so very fast for him. From internacional of Porto Alegre to then #1 for Brazil under a few coaches.

Hard to think of players growing-up just grasping whatever World Cup comes around, like he did in 1998 and 2002, and then drawing their own inspiration. Ederson makes many preventable mistakes, AB not so much haha.

It’s such a shame our scouting department isn’t up to much... could have had him 2 years ago for 6 million.

We're not always going to get the bargain guys that exponentially increase in value. I mean, look at Coutinho.

United have a worst example in Pogba. Get rid of him, get him back for nearly 90 mil. Then completely misuse him so they don't get any value for their money. And to add salt in the wounds plays infinitely better for France.

Just guessing, but work permit?

In general though, I think we have to move on from this ‘if we’d bought him x years ago, we could have got him for y pounds’ thing we always say.

Players more often than not need that intermediate step before they come here. A raw lad who hasn’t done 2-3 seasons at a Saints or a Roma are not going to settle here - they wouldn’t get the chance to find their feet or make their mistakes. If we’d signed Lallana from Bournemouth he probably doesn’t get to develop in the way he did at Southampton.

And you have to bear in mind a lot of the time these clubs are spreading money across a few punts in the hood that one lands and gets them a big fee.

Which clearly isn't much then. I've seen more than enough of him this season to know he's decent at coming for crosses. Let's put it this way, catches per 90 he's above Courtois, Lloris, De Gea, Ederson, Oblak and Ter Stegan. But of course he's the one that's wrong lollollol better luck next time yeah.
You the boss Jay! This is so on point

Because we don’t have a crystal ball and we can’t look in to the future and see who are going to be word beating players other wise we would have Neymar mbappe umtiti ascensio or however you spell his name unfortunately you have to let them find there feet as the prem and Liverpool FC Carry insane pressure tbh people who moan about the price don’t understand football 1.football has changed now prices are going up and up and up so the price we payed no was like 30 mil 2 years ago and plus in buying Keita Fabinho Allison Shaqiri we have spent 16 mill because of the profits from Coutinho and a couple of other ones so 16 mil for them type of players dont mind if I do and plus it’s not like it’s coming out of our bank:);-)
