More doable as this season has progressed.

The gap with city (and Leicester) may widen before we get to champions league again in February.

Could end up rotating the prem games to give the champions league a real push.

This group of players have the mentality. They are on a mission. Just like most of us fans.

Jurgen told us to become believers - and that’s what we all have to do.

I’m just loving this ride - feels like once in a lifetime.

Let’s dream... and then make it happen.

There is no doubt in me About what this Team can do. My biggest worry is the games amount and Maybe injuries can distract us. Klopp is making everything to rotate and give the Players where he can the deserved rest. I hope out Players stay fit. Than the rest it`ll be history.

The answer to the OP is yes, obviously because we nearly did it last season. I think we are better now. We have more options, certainly in midfield and attack with Ox's return and Minamino's apparent signing. Other players have gone up a level, like Fabinho. Also we've coped better with players being absent. Allison being out for 8 weeks would have killed us last season. Matip and Fabinho's absences have been barely noticed. The winning mentality is so deeply ingrained we just seem to be able to get over the line, regardless of how poorly we might play.

Target for the PL will have been 100 points and we are well on course for that. One thing that could have derailed us, dropping into the Europa, has been avoided. The CL owes more to the luck of the draw but we are surely every other team's worst nightmare at the moment. Fatigue, bad luck, injuries to key players (like VVD) could obviously make a difference and the second half of the season will be full on but we are top of the league, top of the CL group, Super Cup winners and even Carabao Cup quarter-finalists so anything is possible and achievable from here on in.

You forgot the Grand National, Wimbledon and Eurovision. We'll win the fucking lot!

This time next year we'll be looking forward to winning more trophies in 2021 than the ones we'll have won in 2020. All importantly, I expect we'll still be in the Caribou cup....

You should get 112 points total tattooed too if you are a true believer!

Personally, its quadruple or Klopp and this lot of jokers out!
I'm prepared for 112 and quadruple tattoos. Does that make me a zealot?

Anything on top of PL is a bonus. Been way too long.
Theoretically, we have a 50% chance of winning the league with only 80 pts.(don't ask how) I simply don't believe anyone thinks that level of drop off is remotely possible, so many of us Reds are thinking about more than just the minimum points tally needed to win in May.

Got to ask how.

Is that based on City's current points per game ratio continuing? Wouldn't count on them dropping the same amount of points second half of the season. I expect they'll win about 15 of their remaining 18, meaning they'll still be around the 90 point mark. We've still a way to go.

Agree with the post about how we just simply need to get this over the line. Whilst I am confident we will, I'd still accept a league win only and no CL/FA Cup if it was offered now (mayyy reconsider that if this mystical offer involved something disgusting like losing the CL Final to City).

What are people's thought re: taking the league only if offered now? Are you confident enough to not accept that? Surely the FA Cup wouldn't be worth risking it and whilst we are total dons in Europe, it's so difficult to risk the league purely to have another crack at what is a really difficult tournament to win (unless you're an opposition fan who never wins it telling Liverpool how easy it is).

I can post a link to the data which a sports statistician in the States publishes and updated after each round of EPL matches.
If a simulation of the remaining matches (unweighted) is done, in over half the 5,000,000 times this points tally, 80, resulted from the simulation (7 wins 1 draw and 10 losses, for example), neither City nor Leicester do well enough to get 81 points or win on 80 pts and GD.

So let me get this straight...

We’ve lost one out of our last 59 league games but there is a model that has us losing ten of our next eighteen?

Yeah in 0.25 % of 2.7 billion season simulations and even then of those 0.25% of cases we win the title 50% of the time!!!
Doesn't look too bad, does it? The awful scenario that happens 1 time in every 400 simulations still gives us a 50:50 chance of winning the title.

Can we do the league and CL double?

Why the hell not? One match at a time, team selected on fitness and ability - just see where we end up. If we can get through the next round in the CL, I reckon we have a dammed good chance of nicking that one on top of the PL. Do agree the PL is the priority if we have to make a choice on the team selection though, but yea, let's just go for it if we can.

This is how it could work, if we're getting the treble:

CL QF 1st leg 8th April

Win the league at home to Villa 11th April

CL QF 2nd leg 14th April

FA cup semi final 19th April

and so on.....

(Winning the league after 32 games like this is based on us winning the next 12 games including vs City the week before and assuming that's the only game they don't win in that period.
Leicester dropping to third behind City in the period too, of course)
Enough dropped points by City before their game with us increases the chances that winning in the Etihad clinches it for us. And therefore we can concentrate just on the two cups and use the league games for maintaining squad rhythm and fitness.
