Not sure why anyone is surprised. Atletico were always going to be playacting and doing their shenanigans. The onus was on us to keep our heads, which clearly didn't happen - starting with Mané forcing Klopp to remove him at half time.

That said, though I thought the referee was good in the first half, he was central to how the game disintegrated in the 2nd half. There were at least 4 times we won the ball cleanly in tackles, only to be whistled for a foul. Atletico players duly followed and suckered him in.

That was pretty frustrating.
That was EXACTLY what we ALL should have expected. Anyone that thought that this game was gonna be anything other than that white hasn't been watching enough .

1-0 is acceptable; No red cards (well done taking off Mane). Job done. Really.....

Think we are so used to controlled games and have not dealt with this as well as we could have. Ball movement was tepid and the rotations not as sharp.

Thought Van Dijk looked just slightly off pace...

We have to be ready for a dogfight at Anfield..

How do you work that out when the actually created the better chances in the game. We offered nothing it was very reminiscent of the 2 recent away games with Napoli.
cant say that we’ve offered nothing. after their fortituous we went forward, only to meet low compact blocks, narrow defending, time wasting,a willingness to go down at every contact made, and trying to get into the ref’s ear at every decision. if that isn’t anti football, then what else is?
