Least impressive unmasking ever.

What a plum.

TBH though I just thought he was an alt of RedCanuck so was the mildest of surprises from that perspective.

@Dane

There‘ve been so many smaller teams at previous group stages England „should have“ beaten. But they didn‘t more than once.
Maybe it‘s not always as easy as it appears to be on paper.
You're right, I predicted Korea to beat Germany 2-0.

Seems a bit strange to sum up the discussion as a bunch of foreigners laughing at the English team, while all the England based posters were/are always behind the team.
True.
The hate and disgust didn‘t really come from non-english fans.
Maybe some Scousers among them.
And it‘s o.k. if they don‘t consider themselves english.

Thanks for cheering me up. That final was so much fun to watch. Butterfingers Karius. Ramos teaching Salah jiu jitsu. My favourite club team humiliating the team I hate with a passion. Theyre not even english. Should be playing in a Scouse League. Even McManaman (home town boy), left you to come play with us. Why waste your career at Liverpool when you can win titles at Madrid? Owen did it, Beckham did it. Just wish more English players would take note. Stevie could've actually won the league with us. What is it now....12 years without a title?lolNot even the best in your own league.
I'll be lenient today, I'll assume that your neurons did implode yesterday night after England's defeat, and you didn't know anymore what you were posting. You have also behaved well until now , so that's your chance.

But if I ever see such a post again from you, you'll get the ban immediately. This is a Liverpool fans forum, so please take note. And frankly, an unreserved apology from you would be nice in order to make things up. If you want to continue posting on this forum, that is.

Sorry if this upsets some of you on here, but I don’t care, I’m going to say it anyway. I was born in Liverpool, I’ve worked all my life in Liverpool and I’ve never lived anywhere else but Liverpool. Supported Liverpool FC all my life and guess what?
I’m English! Yes English and I was gutted about last nights result. I don’t see why I should be ashamed to show support for the country where I was born.
So, if you want to come after me with pitchforks or place a burning cross in my front garden during the night, be my guest. I’ll still be English!

I still think the World cup should be limited to U23 players. You can cheer your country on, but the competition doesnt tread on the feet of clubs anymore. I supported England and It brought back memories of the 1990 Semi final !!!! that was a great year for me ! But my feeling for Liverpool is 100 times stronger than for England.

I mean, I get it. For many of you, England isn't your team so of course you're happy to see them lose. That's normal. This isn't an England forum, it's a Liverpool forum made up of people from all over the world. Sure, there are bunch of England supporters on here as well since Liverpool are English team, it's natural. But it's not a surprise that plenty of people are laughing at England now.

But seriously. England haven't been to the semi final of a major tournament since 1996, and when you look at the quality of players in this team they aren't a shade on many of the previous teams. This team got where it did though precisely because of a lack of superstars: everybody worked hard. They didn't have the quality to go further, but this was a welcome change of pace from previous tournaments. For those that don't support England, take away the fact it was England and that's a pretty decent storyline. For those that do support England, ignore the haters. This team earned some valuable experience, is young, and should improve in the years to come.

All that said, this is the club or country thread. The national tournament is over, so it's all club now. Harry Kane is back to being a twat, Lingaard is shit, Ali is a flop, Pickford has short arms, Sterling fluffs everything, and Stones is massively overrated. They're all garbage. Except for Hendo and TAA, all those players can screw off for a few years.

YNWA!
First England team in well over a generation to overachieve. No idea why anyone would be laughing at England.
I'm laughing at England for many reasons, including the fact that many of its players and fans laughed at us when we lost.

Never mind the usual media hype that follows them around, a media that has convinced itself and the nation that England did well. They didn't play anybody decent until last night, then a nation of 3 million people got the better of them.

What did anyone expect of a team with so many Spurs players, a club that specialises in losing semi finals?

What did anyone expect of a team with a bang average manager who used a formation that reinforced the defence until the defenders showed their true colours and made mistakes anyway, but a formation which in part stifled the attack? Then he couldn't change it because of his lack of tactical acumen.

Gareth Southgate is typical of that southern English public schoolboy type who runs the country because they look and sound the part, not because they are any good at it.

In fact, I'm laughing at England because last night is exactly what this country deserves given what a vile place it is. To have hope artificially raised, then to fail, and to suffer the pain that follows.

Sure. Like Slovakia, Slovenia, the US etc were world beaters back then.
Believe what you want.
Believe that any pub team would have gotten into the semis with that draw.
Doesn‘t bother me.

Unpatriotic to ones own country to almost show contempt are all rather ugly traits. Each to their own of course.

I didn't say that . I think England are a decent side but blown up by the english media. You got probably the easiest group to get out of and got a nice clear run to the semis against to poor sides . had your chances to put yourselves in a commanding lead against a team that had played 2 120 minute games that went to penalties and yet it was England you looked more shattered. In the end the Croatians deserved it.
Can't deny that I was delighted but then again if you had been at the receiving end of the abuse I got working on the building sites in London in the late 80s/early 90s then you might understand why I take great pleasure in England losing

Because he wears a waistcoat? He went to a comprehensive school in Crawley.

Absurd for people to feel as though they have to apologise for wanting their country to win. There were just as many big screen events last night in Liverpool as there were in any other city in the country. It was good for once to have an England team it was actually easy to get behind. No obvious egos there and at least they were playing some reasonable football.

Just to redress the balance a little because I wouldn't want people on the basis of this thread to think that the city is populated with miserable arseholes who are suffering from a raging superiority complex. That has not been my experience of Liverpool and the people at all. Scousers are warm, generous, humorous people who are genuinely welcoming of 'outsiders'. Apart, of course, from Mancs and 'Cockneys'.

No because he's the 'type'. Smooth talking but ultimately bang average.

Nobody said all of Liverpool is against England, there is just a sizeable minority who have genuine reasons for it.

I was born in Liverpool but have lived and worked all over the UK and overseas, and take each person as I find them regardless of where they are from.

But at a collective level I also see this country as a vile place with much regional prejudice and I think any pretence of a unified homogenous nation is misplaced.

To be fair, everyone 100% expected them to beat Tunisia and Panama, to not do so would have been classed as major upsets. And regardless of stats, they only just managed to beat Tunisia.
The Belgium game is kind of void, because neither team needed to win and both sides rested players.

Fair play, overcoming the thuggery of an average Colombia was a decent and convincing victory, and Sweden were just downright fucking awful.

The only team of any quality they played, who they needed to beat, were Croatia. And they failed.

Pride should drive both England and Belgium in the play off, so the result of that game should give a better yardstick as to where they are against a decent side. (Assuming neither manager disrespects the occasion and fields a weakened side).
Fair point, but by recent standards, not crapping the bed at the first sign of resistance is overachieving.

I have never managed to care in the least about 3rd place games.

By the usual standards, this was an underhyped England campaign. Honestly, this is the first one I can remember since perhaps 1996 where before a ball was kicked at the final, no one was setting an absurd target as if it was reasonable albeit calibrating them downwards over the years. The English media could not help themselves, even with the steaming piles that were the Hodgson teams. Denigrating the quality of any opponent they did not recognize from their weekend television, then struggling against players from the Costa Rican domestic league - your own comments are the flipside of the same coin.

Southgate is not a great manager, though who knows, he may learn from this run. Doesn't set himself out to be one the way Hodgson and so many others have done.

Spurs....well, yeah.

In football, always put my club before my country. However, the team and the manager managed to get under my skin in a positive way and gave me some special moments this summer especially after our CL disappointment. Well done lads.....

Let’s lay off @EnglandTillIDie. He is obviously hurting.
I guess he's more on trolling, baiting and winding everyone here up than hurting apparently? Madridsta winding everyone up in here. Out of his 700 plus post, no more than a dozen are about Liverpool subject, even then it's more about players than anything else.

I still don‘t believe that he has planned this whole thing 12 months in advance :-)
