I wish him all the best, his commitment could never be questioned in his time here. On the pitch he is a "reactionary" type of defender, they guy who smashes the door down and comes bursting through with a extinguisher to put out the fire that started while he wasn't paying attention. Always wanting to fight the centre forward instead of concentrating on the ball.
He is "last gasp" "dive on the grenade" "sledge hammer to a walnut" type who when it comes off seems heroic but I'll always remember how our dear friend Rich (RIP mate) described him......"the boy with a bucket on his head".

It's good that he's moving on and at a decent price in a depressed market. It will be interesting to see how we tackle the 4th CB issue without him. JK was vocal in not letting him go last summer when Lovren was linked with Italian clubs and as City found out going into a season with 3 recognised CBs is asking for trouble.

He did OK this season when both Matip and Fabinho were injured and Joe was still coming back although we always look wobblier at the back when he's in the team. Our style now is completely alien to him and he's a liability in a high line. Everyone's favourite scapegoat but he is not as bad as some make out and will do a decent job in a more conventional defensive set up. He was excellent in the second half of the 17/18 season and provided the lift-off moment for JK's stint as manager with that goal against Dortmund. Good luck to him.
