Maybe more pertinent in a youth signing thread actually but - well, that's a striker for the season chosen lol

    If he succeeds its great

If not some Prem/Championship club will pay double the fee

Low risk opening signing for depth/home grown talent

If I remember correctly, weren't we linked with him in the January window, or maybe since then? Pretty sure I've seen him mentioned in the recent past.

Probably not one for the first-team straight away, unless we've given up on Ings?

There have been rumours of our interest for a while. In two minds about this.

A lot of Chelsea academy players want to jump ship and we're seen as an attractive destination; hopefully the kid's joining for the right reasons and will get his head down.

Have heard his name before but not seen him play as I don't really keep up with the youth leagues all that much. That said Chelski have turfed De Bruyne, Lukaku and Schurrle in recent years (but for his injury record I'd also include Sturridge). Here's hoping this another balls up on their part and we've got ourselves a decent little gem.

No problem with this at all. £3m isn't a gamble and he has oddles of potential. Decent season at Vitesse too, lad doesn't think he'll get a sniff at Chelsea so why the hell not take him on?

Ings has had two season ending injuries in a row. Doubt he has much chance of bouncing back from that. Shame really because he's looked good when fit.

Vid of his highlights from his season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, in 2015/16 (25 apps, 7 goals):

    Seems quick and strong.

Yep, agree. Big shame for him and us but I think we'll be making plans without him now.

19, sick of being part of Chelsea's loan army, significant potential.

Sounds like a good FSG style signing, can see him being a good addition to the cup team...

Is anyone else waiting for the first outburst of fury that City are signing half of Monaco while we've brought in a 16yo Bosnian and a 19yo Chelsea reserve...

Great signing. Minus Brewster, who just got promoted to u-23s midway last year (and still two+ years younger), we haven't had anyone like him for a while in youth setup. Lots of attacking talent, but most of it attacking mid/winger types. This guy is supposed to be best English striker in that age bracket. He'll be pushing Origi I would imagine for a spot on the bench, barring another signing and assuming Sturridge is gone/not fit. No lose situation. If he doesn't quite make it here he'll still be worth something to someone.

Woodburn is probably more viewed as a #11 or #8 now, I don't think the club has great belief in Toni Gomes, Brewster is there but still very young... we'll see. Maybe we're looking at small invest + potential profit in a year or two if the development isn't good enough (he will be 20 at the start of the coming season). Anything more than that a bonus. Can't comment more than that, remember bits and pieces of him from reserve level games, but that's it.

Low risk, high reward, can't argue with it!

So I guess that's our transfer business all wrapped up, and in record time too ;-)

He was dominant at youth level. Better option than Ings as 4th choice.

    Nothing much else to say.

Well he doesn't look good enough to play enough to develop properly so a loan really is his best bet. :-)

The cynic in me feels like this is quite the pointless signing. Are his chances of making it here truly better than if he'd stay at Chelsea? Honestly I'm a bit unsure what either the club or player gets out of this.

Highly rated (people covering the U20s WC have said he's one of the best players there) apparently accepted £20k a week in line with our policy (shows he wants to play football than be motivated by money)

It's a no brainer as we are light at center forward in the youth set up, and he will certainly believe he has a route to the 1st team here.

    Can't see a downside here.

This is the way we should be doing our business, quietly and without press speculation, identify the player and just get the deal done.

I like this "out of the blue" signing, i `ve watched some u20 wc games and the "german pundits" were very much impressed, actually everyone thought he will join RB Leipzig.... so maybe our boys Ojo and Ejaria had a word with him or two ;-)

Seem to remember his name coming up a year (or more?) ago. He looked a decent prospect then.. not sure how/if he's developed since though.

Pleased he's joining, but hope he's not one of the first team ready transfers we keep hearing about... unless ofc he turns out to be the next Daniel Sturridge (minus the injuries)
