Come on people. YOUR FAVOURITE players please.

NOT the best players, that's boring and it's not what the thread is about :well done::well done:
I sure did. The players I loved to watch in their prime. All of these players had something special to their game. Difference makers in matches. They could inspire.

My favourite ever LFC XI was 1989

http://www.contrast.org/hillsborough/89team.shtm

Favourite world XI? 4-2-2-2

Valderama
Carlos Nesta Maldini Cafu
Viera Pirlo
Gerrard Ronaldinho
9Ronaldo Bergkamp

Bench Cruyff Hyypia Pele Van Der Sar Gullit Matthaus Dalgleish

Pele on the bench. I wonder how many rimes that happened in his playing career? Come to think of it, barring returning from injury you could say that about each player on your bench.

Just wondering how can everyone be leaving Barnesy and Beardsley out

Along with DAgger they're my top 3.

Reading through this thread is just like me in a restaurant. When the meals come out I see other people's food and think "ooh I should have gone for that".

I see posters' choice of players and think the same thing. Some great choices coming out and it makes you realise just how spoiled we've been over the years.

Well yes but that formation playing through balls to the trecherous little toad would have scored more goals IMHO.
Still don't see how you favour and give more of your heart to an ex-United player to the genus that was Robbie Fowler. I can't fir him into my team as I had to have Barnes, Beardsley and Dalglish and I loved Nando too much to leave him out.

A ball gets played through from AM to a striker, who do you want on the end of it?

Manc or not, my first proper game watching the team was that FA Cup Final. Manc or not, he was class in his day.

One of my favourite LFC players of the 80's was Paul Walsh. Just couldn't fit him in. Also Fowler, Heggem and Stevie Nicol.

Yes Kopstar, no current players or none of the others will get a look-in!
I was at a game, think 86-87 against Norwich at home. We won 6 2 and Walshy did an amazing trick. He was on edge of box, towards main stand, big defender on his heels as the ball came in to him from right mid. He flicked it up with outside right foot, over his and defenders heads then turned and sprinted past him to shoot. Never forgotten that one moment of that game, it was such a class bit of skill. Think keeper saved but there you go. Walshy was mustard.

I can't believe that I missed Banks from my World 11.

Now that I come to think of it, I should have had George Best in there too. My two favourite non LFC players.
Yeah it’s hard to remember everyone though...looking back I’d deco pick Zizou over Platini, although he was class

Classic 4-4-2 formation.

GK: Reina
RB: Babbel**/Finnan/Clyne
CB: Carragher/Hyypia
CB: Agger
LB: Riise
LM: Kewell*/Berger
CM: Gerrard
CM: Alonso/Macherano/Can
RM: Mcmanaman
FW: Torres/Owen*
FW: Suarez/Collymore*

Manager: Klopp

* I know I know but at that time they were personal favorites (young and stupid eh lol)
**only really played one season for us but he was on another level next to none RB I've seen in the red shirt.

Fowler, any day of the week.

Best natural finisher I’ve ever seen- and that includes Rushy. Had it not been for the injuries, he’d arguably have been the greatest striker in the history of the game.

Oh- and seeing that this thread is about favourite players, Fowler has the added bonus of not being a knob.

I never had the Fowler love really, his second stint and his problems with Houlier were when I started to really follow the team. Although snorting the line was right up there with Suarez’s dive.

Yeah, good shout. I guess I see Owen as the archetypal throughball merchant. Torres was immense though. Hmmmmm, tricky.

It's not tricky really though Ptt.

Now, sit back, shut your eyes and picture that little ex-United Judas (who has referred to United as "we" in the past, then picture Fowler and Nando banging in goals for fun that Owen could only dream of).

See , told you it wasn't tricky :well done:

I check United’s scores before ours when I’m away from live media I hate them that much. But Owen was a brilliant footballer and nothing the little runt did afterwards will ever change that.

A main striker that has the team built around him and couldn't crack the 20 league goals a season, not really that brilliant in my book.
