One thing that seems to be happening a fair bit this season is playing getting little niggles or illness and withdrawing from international duty.

Now I may be adding two and two and getting 5 but this was a cornerstone of the likes of Fergie in keeping his squad fresh. This season with the league in our sights, I wonder if players are being nudged to use the international breaks to get a rest etc.

Could also be we've got an injury list about to derail the season.. Henderson, Gomez, Matip, Salah, Van Dijk, Gini..

They've all come back without any "official" injury - so makes me think that they are preparing themselves for what is going to be an intense couple of months. Also, most of the games they are missing, if not all, are meaningless.

Lets hope they are all ok.

Playing around hypothetically here:

Klopp's performance bonus calculations with FSG

UCL, EPL 6pts (or UCLQuali 2pts if done through league)

FAC, WCC 2pts

LC, USupC 1pt

18-19 Target 5 ( final tally=7pts SuperCup game belonging to last season's European campaign IMHO)

19-20 Target 6

20-21 Target 7

21-22 Target 8

The idea would be he doesn't get any individual competition's bonus payment unless the annual target is reached.
That means in the final two years of his contract it won't be enough to win just one trophy.
Is it a sound footing for a Klopp contract from fans' view of things?

Please vote for our gaffer, when you get a moment, thank you.

I won't be voting Maria. Not because he isn't deserving; he is. But he really can do without any further media or social media award announcement no matter how small that he'll have to be informed about just in case he's asked about it in a presser. Sorry to be so mean-spirited,. It's overkill at the moment though and no-one in the media (and award giving) world is going to self-regulate the demands they place on JK.

The club is taking care of Klopp very well. Exhibit A - they bought the house which Klopp was staying for 3.5m, so Klopp can stay rent free. We don't have to worry much.

Agree. And thanks for replying! But worrying that Klopp wasn't getting his dues wasn't what my post is about. It's more about what I as a fan would have put into the performance related part of Klopp's contract if we'd been in charge:). I used pts for various trophies so as not to estimate the value of each in pounds which would start another discussion entirely.

If I own this club, I'd be signing his missus up for a lifetime contract to just sit at home and support the man she married. Making sure she's happy and make him stay with us till he's 80 years old.

Fair enough, no worries.

Has he ever in his career been in this position where his team doesnt get scavenged by other teams? He must be in heaven, basically building his team, and keeping them together. Just Coutinho that got his wish to move on.

And look where he is now. Could not stay a moment longer faking a back injury to leave us for his wet dream Barcelona who dumped him after a year and a half in Munchen where they are in 7th place after years and years of dominating the Bundesliga. Karma is a bitch you little shit.

Wasn't it his shoulder at the weekend though.... If it's his hamstring now I'm not sure how you can connect the two, though I am not medical man.

Klopp is suggesting it isn't too serious though Pearce says differently, Klopp doesn't usually sugercoat injuries so I'm slightly confused by the conflict in messages, someone said they are not mutually exclusive but one is 4 weeks the other is probably a week.

Doesn't matter, Lovren statistically breaksdown for an injury every 7th game.

This part is exactly why I love this guy. He is never shy of admitting a mistake (who doesn't commit mistakes?), and that's precisely what makes him so strong. As a consequence, instead of having someone at his side who feels humiliated by his previous comments, he has made a new pal. It's utterly brilliant, made even better by the fact that it is entirely genuine and heartfelt. It's there on his face for everyone to see.

Who still wonders why the players are looking so happy and ready to perform miracles for him, week after week? Look at this, and you'll understand why. The heart of this man is at the right place.

Edit: and that beaming smile at the end... it's impossible not to like Kloppo! :giggle:

Club's No.1 priority should be keeping him happy.

Cant believe you are asking such a basic question. Didn't he just say, he breaks down every 7th game.. So you should rest him after every 6th. Simples.
And never let him play the 7th game ;-) - perhaps changing the way of counting helps keeping him up and running.
