Hope Joe doesn`t end up at Stoke he`s better than that
Poor Joe if he ends up at Stoke.
I'd sooner keep him than let him go there!
Some people asked: Allen or Millner?
Now it's clear who will leave.
Be a good move for him that. And for stoke too, after having shite like Whelan and Adam in midfield.
To be fair, Stoke are a better team now under Hughes than they were a few years back under Pulis. They play better football now. And they have some class players - Shaqiri for one.
I think Allen will fit in quite well in the new Stoke, good deal all round.
I think the recent Euros have colored perceptions of Joe Allen.
Not happy to see him go, but nor am I sad. Did a job and a decent backup option, but ultimately we need better. I will wish him well Stoke/Swansea is a level that will suit him.
His performances didn't exist in a vacuum. They were a continuation of what we saw in the last months of the season.
Allen is very good at finding a way to get on the ball and then giving to more talented players in the areas of the pitch they want the ball. With the likes of Shaqiri, Arnoutovic and Bojan playing ahead of him he could do quite well there.
Well, on the end of the day he will play nearly in every game. Good for him.
Klopp clears out more and more. Who is the next? Lucas, Henderson, Moreno, Balotelli, Benteke?
He's in his last year of his contract. We could lose him for nothing in 6 months so basically it's a decent fee for a squad player
Ok, then the price is not too bad.
That did bring his price up. As I said in the last post, clubs know he's a bit part player for us and basically foreign clubs can get him to sign a pre-contract in January and English clubs can sign him a few months later and we'll receive fuck all
Its decent, we could try hold out for more or just get the deal done and move on. You could probably squeeze another million or two out of them but then we could end blowing it by getting greedy like fsg did with benteke to palace
Not bad this fella, he's about to leave and we didn't lose as much money on his fees too at £13m.
Blown it? Who have Palace signed? they are in for Diafra Sakho who is usually out injured. I doubt signing him will prevent them from coming back for Benteke.
By the way, the club has cash inflow (many departures). What is the plan to do with the money? Actually we could buy 1-2 players more than expected before. Maybe Klopp should call Hector, what do you think guys?
I think many here would take 5m for Allen before EURO, so yeah decent return for someone with, like 1 year of contract left?
Decent price for Stoke too, considering nowadays inflated price. If only count his euro form, he probably would worth 20 mil.
Hopefully we will have enough left over from the summer deals to have a pot of money to take advantage of any last day surprises if wanted. We are too often chasing deals, rather than being in a position to snag bargains that pop up.
The frugality of the owners is well known. If we record a £50-65m spend (after player sales) come the end of this transfer window, I for one will be pleasantly surprised.
We'll see but as it is they've moved on because we actually raised the price from 30m to the 32.5m we originally paid
Imbula, Allen, Afellay, Shaqiri, Arnautovic, Bojan.
And they have a bid in for the lad from West Brom.
He's lived up to expectations in that he's been basically the same player as he was at Swansea. Hard working and good on the ball. But I've always thought he was limited in that he isn't particularly creative, offers no goal threat and isn't robust enough to play a holding role so he was never going to hold down a regular first team place. Good option off the bench though and that's where he was most effective especially in games where we needed to start stringing a few passes together. Never the Welsh Xavi and whether BR was joking or not, Joe must have been pissed off with him that he ever said it because it just created pressure that he could have done without. He hasn't let us down though.
For him can see why he'd want to go, however I'd be surprised if Stoke was his destination.
He is in form, will struggle for action with us, and is approaching his prime years.
Good luck to him. Always treated us with respect.
He may well be praying Swansea come in and match the offer.
Will miss Allen. Think he's probably a good guy and well liked by others. Never complained and really contributed his last six months off the bench.
But, 13m plus possible add ons for a squad player in the last year of his contract is remarkable. Especially when you consider the cost of guys like Grujic, Matip, Karius, and even Klavan.
Wish him the best. Hope he loves it at Stoke.
What's the issue with Stoke btw? They have better players and play better football than Swansea. Welsh manager too.
Eh, they're ok. I personally think going back to Swansea would be his first option though given the choice. Not so much a comment on the two clubs as trying to second-guess Allen's preference.
Yeah, its just so logical for them to sign him..
