**************************************************

The mod team has decided to change the nature of this thread.

From now on, it will be exclusively informative. If you see any reliable report about a new injury happening to a player, report it here. The discussion will then take place in the respective player thread.

Any non-informative post will be deleted. Please check the source of the news and make sure it's a reliable one. Read also the previous reports in order to prevent double or triple posts.

In order to help fellow posters taking the discussion to the respective player thread, please provide the link to it as well. Thanks in advance!

Banned and unwanted sources are the same as in The Unreliable Rumours Thread or the Twitter thread. Failure to adhere to these rules will result in posters being handed infraction points or bans in case of posting from forbidden sources.

Fair enough. Small suggestion perhaps - maybe request that posters here also provide a link to the relevant player thread when posting about an injury, think that would help drive the discussion element to the right place (and consequently cut down the amount the mods are having to delete or issue reminders), and it is a little bit of a drag getting to the player threads that quickly in the current forum structure.

Good idea. I've modified the text accordingly.

Can you confirm whether physioroom is considered reliable as it's often my go-to source for the current status of players' fitness?
Yup, I think that's ok.

We will take a broad brush on what is 'reliable', at least for now, it is more a matter of wanting to ensure that some known crap sources are excluded than anything else. People have been generally pretty good about the sources of information in here.

The intent is basically to move discussions of injuries and implications to the appropriate player/match thread, and confine this to actual changes of status. That way Hope will not brick it four times a day every time he sees this thread updating....which ideally I have just managed to do.

Mohamed Salah will head to Spain today for surgery on his shoulder injury, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) confirmed on Monday.

The Reds superstar, who was injured in the Champions League final after a collision with Sergio Ramos, is hopeful of being back in time for Egypt’s World Cup campaign which kicks off on the 15th June.

Chairman of the EFA, Hany Abu Rida, and national team doctor Mohamed Abou-Ela will also travel to Spain on Wednesday to “follow up” Salah’s rehabilitation, with the winger being accompanied by members of Liverpool’s medical staff.

Rhian Brewster is targeting a return for Christmas. It was initially thought he'd be back in time for this pre-season.

Keita Injury Update

Naby Keita is set to sit out training for the next couple of days as a precautionary measure as he recovers from a sore neck, the club have confirmed.

The Guinean missed out on Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Manchester City last night and now looks set to watch the game against Manchester United from the stands.

Keita will be afforded time to recover by not taking part in the immediate sessions, although he has not been ruled out of the fixture with Manchester United in Michigan at this stage.

From the Echo:

Young Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is facing at least a month on the sidelines due to a calf injury sustained in training.
The 19-year-old shot-stopper was involved in a heavy collision with Reds striker Divock Origi at Melwood on Tuesday.
The teenage shot-stopper sustained a nasty cut and it's a painful setback for Kelleher, whose progress was recently rewarded with a new long-term professional contract.

Was in contention to make bench against Spurs depending on how Mingolet recovers from his injury. If Ming can't go, it will be Grabara on the bench.
