27th September 1999.

Twenty years ago today the Ev won their last game at Anfield. We have 11 wins and 10 draws in 21 games against them since then. :D
I recall it. Just about managed to get in Anfield for kick-off, as I travelled with my two Everton mates. Kevin Campbell scored after a minute or something and Stevie G got sent-off! If I recall rightly, Stan Staunton ended-up in goals at the Anny Road End and pulled-off a great save!

12 October 1940, Bury 0 Liverpool 3.
War-time game.

First game in the life of John Lennon, b 9 Oct 1940.
Was it John or Ringo (also 1940) who was born in the middle of an air raid? I wonder if supporters went to that game as a welcome distraction from the destruction around them.

19 October 1962, Liverpool sign Willie Stevenson, a wonderful player, a star of the 1965 FA Cup final.
Years ago I met Peter Osgood and recall asking him who was the best red and his answer was Willie Stevenson. Would love to have seen him play - along with Peter Thompson....
