Sacked it off as soon as they scored

Someone mentioned Hodgson. In isolation this was every bit as bad. Difference may be we may not have to wait as long for a better performance

But we still see too many of these days to be competing at the very top
this is worse because we had slightly better players. Also we pretend to want to play pass from the back when the CB don't have the confidence. Surely rodgers saw that in the training ground and still insist skrtl to play out of his comfort zone. wtf!!! fucking beyond basic. no excuses at all.

A poor result and performance. We still have a very weak squad and we need to learn. Let's get a proper backup for Johnson and coutinho. If Alberto isn't up to the standard then bring back Suso.

One Coutinho missing and the whole team balance seemingly falls apart. For all our cursing of Suarez's conduct in the summer, perhaps we should actually feel relieved he's coming back at last.

Manager and players both to blame, wrong tactics and wrong mentality. Please don't tell me they're saving strength for the League Cup game at Old Toilet this Wednesday.

After 3 games, we have 9 points, the bitter have 3. Now they are 1 points behind us, after winning Chelsea and Westham away, while we draw Swansea and lost to Soto at home.

Deservedly too

Could tell from the lack of fluidity in the first half this was gonna be 0-0 or 0-1. Useless without Coutinho.

So start of last season when we played nice and lost people moaned that it's about getting points not playing pretty football. Now we've got the points despite some poor performances and it's all about how well you play.

Bore off with your whining. I bet you've been bragging to anyone who'd listen about us being top of the league, one defeat and we're garbage. Not to mention we've not had our best two players available today.

We could win every game 3-0 and people like you would still moan about something.

Johnson too. Though I've been critical of him games like this show what he gives the side.

Not enough players in that team who can support the attack. Poor show from Rodgers

No modern managers in the league would even fathom playing 4 CBs ..not even wenger....

You could see at 70 minutes that we were not going to win this. Gutless performances with no one wanting to grab this one by the scruff maybe bar Hendo.
The 4 CB's is utterly baffling at home. You start your best 11 in their best positions. End. Of. 3 CB's with an extra mid would have been a way better option if BR is hell bent on tinkering.

The only potential positive is that now with the pressure of being undefeated gone, maybe players can settle and just play.

First of all well done Southampton they deserved their win and by more than one goal being honest. Unbelievably incompetent tactics and left that way until 60 minutes. Rodgers being shown up once again for the bluffer he is but Mignolet aside this game highlighted that there is no squad depth and LFC are well short in most areas. Aspas looks like more money squandered. Sakho at left back looked unbelievably awkward.

How the heck can anyone in the right mind would remove out wide wing back players, and move out main CF outwide when he scored his last 4 goals from centre play?

And cross and try to move in set piece when aerially, we ended up winning none of them?

This is not a mistake, this is STUPIDITY

Which of course begs the question ...is BR more mouth than trousers? So to speak.
I think it's very much a balancing act. Yes, every manager has a preferred way of playing and tactical setup, but there are many other factors that influence whether they think their preferred way is the most appropriate way. If he felt a need to prioritize results, he wouldn't have had the time to implement his preferred style.

I just hate how a quote is taken as gospel even though the very same people then make a joke out of Rodgers' "stubbornness" - even though they are the ones attributing the stubbornness to him.

Given what we've seen since last Christmas, I think BR is more pragmatic than what he is credited for. Which means that he will contradict himself all the time, sometimes rightly, sometimes wrongly.

We couldn't chase a bus. If we let one in you just know we will never turn it around. When we score first you just know we will be hanging on in there in the last twenty minutes. No idea why this happens it is so obvious.
Not going to have a go at the players or the management as we have been doing well so far but we need to bounce back quickly and win the next two or three games to get it going again.
Hopefully LS will have the bit between his teeth so to speak.........

One thing that will be different is that a better performance will usually follow.

But that was utterly dire. Least last season Villa had a Benteke. But it did have shades of wolves under Roy in isolation. But an isolation I do partly expect it to be

But Rodgers needs to stop twatting around with the team. He's not arrigo sacchi. Enrique wasn't great when he was on but he was our one first team specialist fullback. You don't play a line of 4 central defenders. It kills attacking width.though I excuse Toure from that joke. And Moses perhaps

Rest bar the shot stopping of Mignolet was a steaming pile of horse plop. The way we barely mustered any threat after they scored was horrible in its familiarity

Weird player to pick out from this pile...
No one played well, but it was his 'let the ball run, it goes out of bounds, brain fart' that led directly to the goal.

As for the others, Gerrard was incredibly wasteful, Sterling was just plain crap as was Enrique. Aspas was anonymous. Lucas is remarkably limited.

Toure looked the only player in red desperate to win.
