Who is available and that would be willing to come as back up. There doesn’t really seem many goalkeepers available can only think of Hart really.

Speculation is Hart is available for less than 5 million
Having him in goal wouldn’t fill me with optimism but I’d be more relaxed than if it was Mignolet or Karius as he is just now :((
Hart wouldn't come in to be backup (He got really stroppy about falling to second spot for West Ham last year and that is with the other keeper playing better then him) and has an attitude problem. The above attitude and his moaning and blaming everyone else and loans for his falling out of the England Squad. He wouldn't fit in well at all.

This is the quandary. We're getting on for so late in the window that I think most teams will have this kind of issue more or less sorted by now.

A Leverkusen brainfade and we get Havertz for Karius + €10m. Please make this happen. I'd happily go with Ward and Grabara as Becker backup, if Jürgen gets his chance to develop Kai. Imagine an Özil clone but with a Klopp pressing work ethic chip in its brain.
I don’t think Leicester will agree to Danny Ward sitting on our subs bench. Do you?

I've just looked who started that rumour and it seems it is the telegraph again. After all they are already responsible for that wrongly translated article about Karius before.

Indeed. It does increasingly look like selling Ward has backfired a little (that is if both Karius and Mignolet move of course). Good move for Ward though, but not us.

Are the youngsters an option here?

Not for me, Clive. They look to be promising but I can't honestly see us wanting to rely on them for any period of time if Alisson was unavailable.

Clive????

Injury to Alisson is the risk I agree. Although I would certainly consider them as an option for an early round in the league cup, even the FA cup depending on the opposition.

Joe Hart is an overrated irritating fucking moron, please don't get him, please.
Klopp wouldn't want him anyway, no way. We would look for someone who is content to be only no 2 and a "calm experienced positive" presence in the dressing room. Furthermore, we are not the retirement home for discarded unwanted city players. :)

That’s why I thought Hart maybe could be an option as there isn’t many goalkeepers going about now. Really wouldn’t want to go into the season with such young back ups.

This is where the PL clubs' decision to close the English transfer window early in a World Cup year to boot, shows neither the PL administrators nor our clubs, have an iota of common sense between them. They were effectively bounced into this ridiculous idea by Wengers constant bleating every pre and early season that he didnt think it fair clubs could still make transfers once the season started.

Well just look at the shit fest you've caused.

Same. I don't really like him but he seems to be the obvious candidate with time running out.

If Mignolet is allowed to leave permanently, then I hope Karius goes on a season long loan while Klopp pulls off a Klavan like signing. A keeper, unknown so far, happy to be no. 2 and turns up when called upon to do the job between the sticks.

Would the legend that is Iker Casillas prefer to swap a place on the bench at Porto for a place alongside Alisson at LFC after the reception he received at Anfield during last seasons ECL? Just for one season? I’d certainly regard that as one helluva short-term solution and a privilege to see him in an LFC shirt! :well done:

Possibly, then again Casillas was one of the most vocal supporters of Karius after his problems in the Champions League, and was none to happy about much of the vitriol aimed at Loris by supporters/media.
I wouldn't expect Casillas, but who knows.

I admitted my error a few posts back. Schoolboy stuff.
Will do better in the future, promise.
BUT it will happen again because I don't have the perfectionist streak !

I don’t think Casillas’ comments were aimed at Liverpool fans specifically but football followers in general. He’s not stupid and knows first hand how classy real LFC supporters are.

True but didn't Beckham change the rules on image rights etc?

I've no idea how it works but I do have a faint memory of that being reported as discussed heavily during contract negotiations. I think he may have got some / a lot of it.

Would be extremely surprised if there's a manager out there with stones to take Karius into his squad.

Wouldn't miss him though.

Karius is a damn good keeper. There will be plenty of managers out there that will take him into his squad. The reality is he was very very good last year when he assumed the starting role, and had 1 really high profile bad game where he was concussed.

If he gets away from Liverpool and the Premier League he'll be fine.

I remember Cavalieri. I dunno man, he was poor when he played for us before, I doubt he's a better player at 35 than he was at 28...
Perhaps not, but he would be a stop-gap and probably wouldn't play even one game.

I'm sure our scouting staff could come up with a better option though. What's Jerzy Dudek doing these days?
