may have avoid trouble with this one.
Spot on about Götze. And you still make it into the Mannschaft, even if you're hardly playing, when you're a Bayern player.
He's still young, but if he wants to fulfill his potential and actually become a true world-class player, his main priority should be playing in a team where he has to take on responsibility. The way I see it, he would be a star player at Liverpool and expected to perform on a regular basis. At Bayern he's just an option. That boy should get out of his comfort zone and man up a bit - show the football world he can lead a team to success (and no- I'm not forgetting the World Cup goal - in an otherwise pretty average tournament for him).
I wonder if Klopp has come to terms with this yet as I think that his judgement might have been slightly clouded on this one
Klopp wants commitment to the cause and palyers with energy and belief and who believe in LFC clearly thats not the case with Goetze. So hopefully Klopp comes to terms with this and not try to get Goetze on any terms and we move on.
I was surprised we were in for him - would have been hard to see where he would have played if Coutinho, Lallana and Firmino are playing, as well as say a Sturridge or Origi
These 31 pages could be a shrink's delight. They offer a fantastic insight into human minds. From "we need him" to "we must have him" to "the signing is done" to "meh nevermind he was unneeded luxury."
Anyway, life is quite unpredictable. You never know how things might unravel in the next few months.
He could still end up here after the Euros and the same posters will hail him as the best signing in years. Or he could have a stormer at Euros coupled with a serious injury to Muller and suddenly he would be important to Ancelotti. Or he could be snapped by Madrid as Perez's annual star signing.
People forget that the smart thing for Gotze (and Mario must look out for himself first) is to wait, at least after the Euros are finished.
Well that was quick, on to the next one I guess
Actually, I was a bit more like:
From "Guys, this one is currently really not as good as you think, and costs high wages", to "please guys, don't freak out, he can be a good player for us, but he needs patience", then when it looked we get him I tried to be a bit more positive to not destory everybodys joy like "Götze can definitely make it here with a good pre-season, but give him time" and now "okay, guys, saved some money let's make the tickets cheaper or go for some wingers".
You win first prize for stating the bleedin' obvious!
For the record, I questioned the value of signing yet another attacking midfielder in addition to Coutinho, Lallana, Markovic and Firmino when we desperately needed strengthening in central midfield and at CDM and I did so from the moment that Goetze was linked with us.
His biggest value would probably have been what other top quality players we were able to sign if he committed to us. If he comes fair enough but we need to offload 2 out of the above 4 to justify his signing. I'd rather spend the money on CM, CDM and the back four and I've been pretty consistent about that!
Its okay, you don't need to explain or justify yourself!
What if Goetze's statement is just part of an act and everything is progressing to plan behind the scenes? You still not want him?
My point being - no need to jump to massive conclusions and future implications based on the latest headline on twitter when none of us really know what is going on - especially when we know that Klopp likes to play his cards close to his chest.
Mate, no need to get offended or irked by my post.
It's Gotze this season, it was Sanzhez, Konoplayanka, Mkhitaryan, etc before that. And depending on how our next season goes it will either be Neymar or Shane Long.
I just find people's reactions amusing depending on whether the player is joining us or not. Been following football for enough years now and even I have done something like that in the past as well. Maybe now I try to take into considerations things like player's own wishes and the unpredictability of the sport and the transfers. Just don't want people to jump to conclusions, that's all.
PS: I am pretty sure you or others wont mind sacrificing 2 of those players if suddenly Mario becomes available.
This. Nail. Hit. Head.
I'm not sure most people's attitudes have changed that much over this one. Some people were always in favour, others less so.
All is not lost, Ningles. We still have Jürgen!

Götze's father: I don't know anything about an imminent transfer to Liverpool. Mario is my son...I would know. #LFC

SZ think a Götze transfer to Liverpool is unlikely due to them not playing CL or EL football next season (amongst other reasons). #LFC #LRT
Jurgen Götze (Mario's father): "I know nothing of an alleged impending move to #LFC. Mario is my son, we talk to each other, I had to know."
stole this from the lfc forum main site
I'm not irked I just think that referring to a 'shrink' with regard to your fellow posters is both disrespectful and unnecessary. Anyone can write a post like yours but its not particularly clever and adds nothing to the debate other than to ridicule others.
It says a lot about your arrogance and immaturity that fellow posters are such a source of amusement to you in such a negative way. Your own posts are no great shakes but then again perhaps that's because you are too busy ridiculing other posters to contribute much of any real value yourself.
SoftGerman felt the need to justify his previous comments when in reality there was absolutely no need to. He makes a very valuable and greatly appreciated contribution to this forum. I've learnt a lot about German football from his posts.
The bit highlighted in bold yet again states the bleedin' obvious because I'd said as much in my previous post!
Herr Goetze Snr - what the hell does he know ....... ?
Highly unlikely I know but wouldnt it be amusing if Klopp was never in for Goetze and just a smokescreen whilst we sign our real targets
@Fester I made an observation in light humour kind of way on a forum. It is something that happens on forums. I did not mean to disrespectful. To be honest, a lot of us hurl worse jokes on each other on this forum. However, in that post I did not mean any disrespect. It was a general observation. And I still believe it was funny to look back on those pages. And I still believe the same people would be delighted and again change their opinions if things change in our favour. I even added that once upon a time, I did the same.
What makes you think so? What makes you think we are really in for him? How does one know who Klopp is really targeting if one isn't working with him in the club? There is nothing dramatic, the media and fans wanted him, put two and two together sort of thing. Over dramatic with transfer these days, making it more than what it is supposed to be.
Lars Pollmann @LarsPollmann
Röckenhaus writes Götze's now former agent actually advised him to return to Dortmund.
Interesting and maybe it was the agent refusing to negotaite with LFC hence the reason he was fired
If true Dortmund doesnt seem to be on the agenda for him
I'm not gonna lie, I wanted him because hes a big name, it felt glamorous and exciting reuniting him with Klopp and it also showed other teams we could attract him. I never even thought about how he'd fit in or how frail his personality might be.
I know I seriously need to trust Klopp's judgement of who we sign because we are going to be bombarded with Pep and Jose getting linked with massive names and it is going to make me nervous.
@Makati Red you make a very good point with regard to Klopp - Does anyone really know who his targets are this transfer window? I somehow would think that he has not made known what players he wants to bring in or move out this summer.
Hopefully he has a surprise or two up his sleeve and we fans are well pleased with the business he completes come September.
Gotze has committed his future to Bayern.
I think you'll find most people have been reasonably restrained, but even if they weren't, god forbid people get excited about potentially signing a world class player.
As I wrote yesterday Ann-Kathrin will not allow him to move to Liverpool or Dortmund.
Maybe LFC Klopp combo was just being used by the player and his camp to better his wages/playing time at Bayern? Think this happens a fair bit now look at scum being used by Sergio Ramos who was never really going to leave Madrid.
Didn't Coutinho say a near identical thing a week before signing for us? Relax what will be will be.
The girl doesn't know what work is.
Well, in Dortmund nobody needs this kind of media circus,
almost Dortmund fans are happy about the pair still stays in Munich far away from Dortmund.
Not many BVB fans want Götze back tbh.
For all I know , Klopp never uttered the slightest word that he really wanted Götze at Liverpool. Au contraire, all his statements concerning possible future players were all about "the player has to really want to play for LFC, CL or not" , wich sort of rules out Götze as a target right now.
I'm actually relieved if he doesn't sign for LFC , because he would mostly be a prestige signing and as others mentionend already , LFC doesn't really need him (position-wise).
As it stands , a top CDM and/or a RF/LF is much more needed , preferably someone who is strong at delivering from set pieces
I often wonder why people are not shouting more for a dead ball specialist , cause LFC needs one desperately imho.
Yeah, looks like he's staying at Bayern. Confirms everything I thought about him. If he prefers to potentially being benched for another couple of years to being a main man at Liverpool - I say f**k him.
Bayern have enough money to simply keep him as an option. If he cares more about his little-girl-twitter-followers maybe he should start a boy band. Actually I'm glad I won't have to watch him giving interviews at Liverpool - even in german his interviews are like staring into a deep dark void.
