Not a single team would allow you to walk all over them, this isn't the Fergie era and we didn't buy the league. We have not been ourselves since the West Ham match and for us to not tear this fuckers apart at the back is beyond me. Their makeshift defence are there for the taking.

You are right, it's a marathon. The problem is, we have to chase a robot who has a constant speed and we have been dropping off ours. If we are happy to finish 4th every season, this would be seen as a tremendous result for not playing well. But if we want to beat City this is a bad result because we didn't play well!

Couldn’t agree more Eddie. A point at Arsenal ain’t a bad result if the team you need to beat to win the league isn't a winning machine that hasn’t already beat Arsenal away.
A win was required and the team didn’t deserve to win the way they played. Will be 2pts off top after this round of results and it’s a struggle to see where City drop points.

Because their defense wasn't actually that bad? This whole 'Arsenal' can't defend narrative isn't really congruent with their recent form. Especially at the Emirates.

Again...we're 8-3-0 having played 3 of the top 5 away. We may be chasing a machine but let's not pretend we're doomed to fail because we drew this game. It's a very minor setback at worst and it won't be the reason the title was lost should it turn out that way.

We've got Fulham next. Beat them like we did Cardiff and all of a sudden everything is rosy again.

Gotta think of that as 2 points LOST (not dropped) thanks to more shit officiating. Legit goal for Mane and we should have had a penalty when VVD was punched in the head 2 minutes after heading the ball.

If at the start of the season you'd offered us 2 draws and a win from Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs away I think we all would have taken. Then you realize City have 6 points from 2 of those fixtures and realize we really needed to collect 3 points from this one. On the balance of play though I think a draw is fair, however we definitely had the better chances and VVD should have had a hat-trick. Mane really needs to learn how to pass the dam ball, twice there were 2 open purple shirts within a couple of meters of him and rather than passing to them he tried to dribble by his marker and lost the ball on both instances. Gomez and VVD were fucking brilliant.

Milner got my vote for the goal. That's it.

Wijnaldum, with all the plaudits he had been getting, better than this, more technical than that, where was he in the second half? Relied heavily on Salah, bad sub from the manager and Alexander-Arnold defending was bad today. Our final 3rd passing needs a lot of polishing and so is our finishing. Not good enough.

Please no more of "we didn't play well, but unbeaten, marks of champions", please. By tomorrow, we might be 3rd. So let's not talk about winning the title when we keep playing this way. Wayward passing, no fluidity and lack in finishing. We didn't even defend well enough.
Not harsh. Fair comment.

Can we also stop comparing results? We'd have knocked them off too if we got them on the opening day. If we beat Wolves away does that put us back on level footing?

City played arsenal when they were in disarray at the beginning of the season. Chelsea just edged out arsenal at home. If a professional lino knew the rules, we'd have won too.
Oh no question City played Arsenal at a great time. But quite literally, that's the luck of the draw. They've got that game out of the way. So we can't talk of us 'making up ground' from their game.

What are you smoking? They've conceded 14 in 11 matches, that's awful. They have about the 10th worst defense.

Sorry, their defence was shit. We misplaced passes, made bad decisions and didn't push them to the limit. I do rate Torreira, but he alone can never handle our front three if they are on their game. They haven't been on their game in a while. We lack that.

Considering the disparity between the performances of the two teams that was a point earned. Too fucking slow, too fucking cumbersome, too much dilly-dallying with the ball and no pressing whatsoever. Just ball watching and a lot of scrambling to clear the ball again and again. On the few occassions that we did attack with some poise and speed Arsenal were all over the place, but as usually lame finishing and cuntish refereeing made the difference.

Quite honestly this slow ponderous possession game that we're playing these days is ineffective against the better sides. Didn't work against Napoli and it sure as hell didn't work out tonight either. Can't say either if this is Klopp's intention or this is the best we can do at this time of the season. The only sure thing is that we need to be playing better.

Van Dijk was utterly magnificent with Gomez and Robertson able deputies. TAA struggled but he was far from alone. In fact, with Milner's exception after his goal, I'd say that they were well below what's expected and demanded.

On a final note, if I were Klopp, I'd have a stern word with both Mane and Firmino. Sick and tired of them putting their head down and not passing on time.

I find Klopp use of subs baffling. It seems to be reactive changes not proactive changes.

Hardly surprising that TAA had an off night given the stuff that surfaced during the week. Would not have been fun for him out there.
Perhaps for a different thread, but if that stuff is indeed true I have lost a massive amount of respect for Trent which I am not sure he ever deserves again. For me, that's not just being "young and dumb" that's being straight up vile and subhuman.

Unlucky today hit the post twice VVD should have scored at least once . TAA was poor today always late and poor decision making if this was Moreno he would have been lynched . Fabinhou not doing well with 433 .
We played 4411 in the second half. I haven't a clue what we were playing in the 1st half but it didn't look good did it?

Alexander-Arnold was just shocking again. I was watching the goal, and was astounded that he pulled out of a last ditch tackle. He just put on the brakes. Not at fault for the goal, but could have made more of an effort.

There is always at least 1 of the front 3 that is just not in the game, today it was Firmino. Shaqiri needs more game time, or needs to come on a lot sooner for a misfiring player in the front three.

We desperately need a more dynamic player in the midfield. Keita fit and playing up to his standards would be perfect. Henderson offers what we already have.

The defense is saving us this year.

A point away to a top 6 team is a decent result, I just think we need to convert some of these to three point in order to challenge.

I'd have taken a draw a long time ago but I'm disappointed this time. That's because we were poor and we all know what this side is capable of and that we can do so much better.

There seems to be a resilience to us but that will only get you so far. At the end of the day you have get some level of control in these games and from what I saw we didn't have it at all.

This was a serious test. Where we stand is now clearer for us to see. We won't win the league if we play more than two games as poorly as that for the rest of the season. We'll have to win the rest of the games up to March probably, which we won't unless our goalscoring threat returns and the pressing too.

If we start criticising the team for not keeping Citeh’s pace, we’re going to go mad.

There is every chance that we finish the season unbeaten and break 90 points. Every chance.

And it still might not be enough. That’s fucking mental, and it speaks volumes for the willingness of the games authorities to allow the sovereign wealth fund of a country with a scandalous human rights record to waltz into our division and make a mockery of it.

And here we are. In a right fucking mood as the team sit top with the best start we’ve ever made to a Premier League season.

I’m not thinking about the title. I want 90 points. That’s the aspiration this side should be aiming for. If City get 101 again, there is fuck all anyone can do, and no-one should be going crackers because we haven’t got 102.

What we lacked today was Henderson, like it or not. Even though he is supposedly not as technically gifted as Wijnaldum, but we won't be playing with 10 1/2 men for the entire second half. He would have stamped a lot more control over our game today after going up with a goal. it's no wonder we had to revert to 2-men defensive mid when he wasn't playing.

If we start criticising the team for not keeping Citeh’s pace, we’re going to go mad.
Then we shouldn't be too worked up about wanting to win the league then. That's the pace we have to keep up and that's what we've been striving towards with £165m extra spent this summer.

Fair comment, I'm just frustrated at the sky is falling in attitude that pervades these post-match threads when we don't annihilate our opposition.
I suppose that's a matter of perspective. I am not sure I am reading anything overly negative from anyone. I think it was such a tense and emotional match in which many didn't feel we played to our expected level given the magnitude of the match, so there is some disappointed but fair comments being posted. I just might not be reading through the same lens that you are. You're going to burn yourself out replying to every comment that you feel is sky-is-falling! **high five emoji**

And my auntie having balls could mean she'd be my uncle...

(Makes about the same amount of sense as the post you quoted)
But on the flipside everyone saying we would have won if:
-VVD didn't hit the crossbar
-Mane wasnt called off side when he was clearly on
-Etc etc

also completely disregard the fact that Arsenal also had a load of chances, and I'm quite certain Ozil was called offside early on When he was on. Wasn't as clear cut as the Mane one but Jesus I get sick of the cry-babies complaining about the ref costing us the game. It was one bad call. He got nearly all of the million Arsenal offsides spot on. Move on. Both teams had what seemed to be 20 chances each that werent taken so why fucking focus on the one? Is it because the chance was decided by a ref and not the angle of contact of a players striking leg/the length of stretch from the GK? Auba could have made a slightly different contact on any one of his shots and it might have been in back of the net. Firmino could have made slightly better contact with his head and it might have been in the back of the net. Neither of them got in the back of the net. Move on and stop the incessant whinging.

(In no way was that rant directed at you SBYM btw)

Of course we want to win it. But we’re not going to go 100 points plus. We just need to focus on our own business get a good points haul and see where that leaves us. If we get 90 plus points it’s been a great effort and nobody should be complaining.

So we've had 3 draws away to our direct rivals & beaten everyone else (including spurs). Bar an unforgivable mistake by a linesman, we should have won won this one. We have Two starting midfielders out. This was a perfect game for Henderson. We couldn't change personnel in the midfield, as we didn't have a suitable replacement. The only 'fair' point is that our front 3 aren't in sync the way they were last season (yet). The rest is HARSH!
