No Kante.

Great 1st half perfomance by our boys, 2nd was tired and lacklustre. But to come to Stamford Bridge and win when not at our very best is a testament to how good this Liverpool side is. Up the reds. Well done lads, job done.
He got injured around that time. I think they were saying he's missed four league games before today. He might have been on the pitch for some of the Utd game.

If I remember right, he missed the Uniturd game and came back for the Super Cup game against us. He was a possibility for the Uniturd game but Fat Frank didn't risk him. I thought at the time that he'd basically forfeited the three points to go all out for the trophy.

A game of 2 halves we dominated the 1st half and scored 2goals, they dominated the second half and scored 1 goal, we defended very well and only allowed them 2 shots on target all game with Adrian making a super save, a great result especially after away in the champions league in midweek and we come here and take the points. Hope they all get a rest in midweek.

Joel Matip. What a player. For the last 20-25 minutes , the man near single-handley kept us in the game. I counted 4 headers won in the space of a minute in the dying embers of the game.

Bar Matip. The result was class, big 3 points against a decent Chelsea side. We were quite poor the last 30 minutes but multiple players stepped up to see us out.

Was a tad dissatisfied with Gini’s performance but the win is all that matters.

We move on to the next. YNWA

How on earth did we compete without Fabinho for half a season last year? I know I spent the first half of the year complaining about the midfield of Hendo, Gini and Milner.

Most of the team that played today need a rest for Wednesday's game.

You were right. Chelsea only brought on Kanté in the 73. minute for Jorginho in that game. He picked up an injury (or worsened one - that being why he didn't start) and his game against us was all the better for it being his first real football this season.

You're spot on mate. He was sub and came on with 20 mins to go when they were already 3 down.

good first half, but second half was sloppy and lazy. great goal from Trent, nice easy header for Bobby who was denied a second by Kapa. I had to have a breather in second half and smoke my special blend! returned for the final 9 mins, PHEW!!! they fought like demons in the second half, Alonso was their main outlet and whipped some decent crosses in. Trent was in need of back up, he was exposed. Kante's goal exposed our laziness to close down space. avoidable. Adrian was good again, made some decent saves and gobbled up the crosses.

my pipe squad for the EPL are being chewed nervously! I may go into the transfer market!

3pts and 6 out of 6 and top of the table is sweet!!!

3 points and for 60 minutes I thought we were excellent. However, the last half hour we were poor. We stopped passing the ball and became very sloppy. Salah had his worst game of the season, his first touch and some of his decision making was shocking. And Mane needs to get over his massive sulk!
Having said that, I would’ve settled for a point before the game, so this was a very good result and we’re 11 points ahead of the blueshite already!

18points from 18

Fuck the GD its all about winning your games.
The first tie-breaker in the league this season is NOT goal difference any more, but rather, it is head-to-head record.

The only way Man City's better GD would matter is if we draw twice against them this season, with same number of away goals each.

Needless to say the odds of the league title being decided on goal difference is minuscule, so their 8-0 wins mean nothing as long as we continue to stay ahead on points (or better them in head-to-head).

Well controlled game in the first half and 15 minutes into the 2nd. Beautiful set up for both goals by our boys. I was cursing when the no-goal went in but relieved with the outcome of the VAR (again, did not expect much from VAR, so the outcome was a bonus).

Like many said, the 2nd half, we were way too relax, poor passes or rushing the passes when there were no such need. I have not had rapid heartbeats with LFC games for a long time now, this game gave me that for the last 15 hanging on minutes. Got to give credits to Chelsea credits to pressure us all the way to the final whistle.

My 3 picks: Matip, Adrian and Hendo.

Anyone got a link for full match replays that isn't on the existing page, all the first halves have been blocked?

Just finished watching the game, great result, but 2nd half we were very poor we stopped pressing and had no answer for them switching play to there fullbacks.
How did Gini stay on for 90 minutes he was poor on the ball and off it.
For there goal, IMO Fabinho got lazy and just let Kante turn inside and strolled, do your job stay with your man, other than that he was for me excellent.
Matip was another that stood out but twice with the Batsuayi and Mount chances he was asleep and out of position.
A win is a win and going to Stamford bridge and getting a result is awesome.
P.s what a strike from Trent.

Awesome goal from TTA and a great header from Bobby. I thought we could go on to win about 4-0, however we seemed to sit back and relax to soon and invited the pressure on ourselves.

Well, a hard fought game, but we came out with three points. Going up against Chelsea away is always a tough game, and so it proved. I know many will be frustrated at the performance in the last 30 mins (me included), but at least we weathered it and came out unscathed. Good signs.

By dint of being clinical in the first half, we got a nice two goal lead. Two beautifully worked goals straight from the training pitch. Chelsea targeted the space mostly behind TAA, and we never really countered it. Gini had one of his (albeit getting super rare now) quiet games, and I felt that Jordan had to cover him throughout the game. Hence I felt Gini should’ve made way in the 10 minute period leading up to the Chelsea goal.

And what a goal it was by Kante. An outstanding player, but he really ups his game against us time and time again. We were almost at strolling pace during that period, and Fabinho, who had an otherwise excellent game, didn’t put the effort in to make it difficult for Kante. The lesser spotted Adam coming on for Jordan was puzzling to say the least. With OX, Gomez, and others on the bench, don’t think any one of us would’ve put Adam on.
The front three were stifled up front, but they worked hard tracking back, with both Salah and Mane making full back cover runs many times.

The final 10 mins were frustrating, as rather than doing aa simple pass and keeping possession, we seemed to try to play little dinks and cute passes to players, which Chelsea cut off and came straight back at us. Anyway, six wins from six. Play a youth and fitness team for the midweel League Cup game, and then concentrate again on the next Prem game.

.
As you said I also thought Fabinho tired prior to that he was excellent but as you say he was lazy on their goal and then looked to blame someone else.

All that mattered was the three points.

Played well first half, and should have finished them off at start of second with Bobby's header. Very lucky not to concede asecond goal but i'll take it all day long. Needed though to freshen it up sooner as we were being over-run in the middle and also out on our right - just how many crosses did Alonso fire in? Fortunately we held on. A massive three points.
