Well, I just got back home after a night of celebrations.

Thought I'd check in with you lot.

Champions of the world. About right.

Sleep well, fellow reds.

We never walk alone. And when it is dark, we see the golden sky, we hold our head up high. And walk on.

Gutted for Flamengo.

38 years they've been singing about us apparently.

Shush.
Oh No way??? it all make sense now, all i see is their Brazilian rival saying something about changing a song on the internet. Now i get it 1981 and they had a song about us lol we stuffed their song up Hahaha

Superb day. World Champions! Get in.

We overcame. Should have put it to bed early on, then they grew into it. They can actually play, which makes it all the more infuriating to see the tactics they employed. The ref was rubbish but in the end it didn’t matter. We got the job done.

Well done Bobby for a well taken goal after missing a couple. Well done you redmen for standing tall. Job done.

Such is the frenetic pace of the games coming at us we will barely have time to celebrate. Plane home, short rest, light training, then a couple of sessions to prepare for Leicester. Hopefully we have enough in the legs to compete. They will be keen at home to win and close the gap, especially after losing today to Man City.

Mark Lawrenson is an Oracle. On the BBC predictor he said we’d win it 1-0 after extra time.

Cause it was a foul. You can see from the VAR slow motion that Mane was in pain before he got his shot away. In live time it looked a clear foul and nothing from the replays made me feel otherwise. I’m sure the referee heard the contact of Rafinha’s boot making contact with Mane’s boot. That’s why he gave it. The moment got to him while watching the replay. I’ve reffed enough matches to know the sound is what makes you blow the whistle in that moment. I have no doubt Rafinha caught Mane.

The contact did start out of the box but it should have been a free kick outside and a red card for rafinha. He had no business diving in from behind like that and get any other outcome.
How Rafinha finished that match without a booking is one of life’s great mysteries.
What are you talking about? It was clear in the replay that there was no contact... The ref seems to have reacted to Mane's reaction, but retracted upon seeing the replay. I don't see anything otherwise in the replay too.

Erm, specsavers? :p

Can see clearly that Rafinha lunges from behind and clips Mane's trigger foot when in the process of shooting, thereby affecting the shot.

The muppets in the 'FIFA VAR room' focussed mostly on the back angle, and showed this prominantly to the ref (using VHS picture technology from 1976 to boot, lmfao). The angle from the front is clear and can actually see what happened.

Should have been a red card and a free kick. Rafinha knew exactly what he was doing there. Taking one for the team.

The referee watched a replay of the moment Mane kicked the ball, which you are right there was no contact at that moment, the contact was a millisecond before it as he went to strike the ball.

There is an angle directly in front of them (which the referee was not shown) that quite clearly shows Rafinha's leg block Mane from swinging.

well done to our lads on and off the pitch. really delighted to see them celebrating as they throughly deserve it. Also very nice to see the young lads get their medals and I hope it gives them a serious hunger to play and win for our club. They have a great chance to succeed and a great set of lads and coaches to help guide them. Let's hope they take this opportunity with both feet and stay grounded doing it the Liverpool way.

After falling in love with beautiful Brazilian teams of the 60s and 70s I was embarrassed by the antics of modern Brazilian players. They are destroying football. I’m glad we fucked them over. I think Bobby was the only Brazilian who didn’t go down with cramp. Unfortunately when local kids all over the globe call a diver a Naymar. You know the games rooted. FIFA do something. Oh sorry how much will that cost.

I hope lallana stays. I think he is putting in extra effort to stay in the squad. Gives his best everytime he comes on. If he can stay injury free, he can be like Milner. He would be more than happy to be part of this squad and contribute whenever possible.
I hope the addition of minamino adds healthy competition.

They changed that law a couple of years back to remove the double punishment of both going a goal down and a man down
You can still be sent off for conceding a penalty if it is deemed to not be an honest attempt to play the ball.

Not that this tackle would have fallen into that category anyway but it isn't always restricted to yellow cards on penalties.

I thought the gold badge was ours to wear on the shirt in all competitions for a year. Wrong!
The EPL doesn't allow FIFA emblems to be worn and the FA Cup demand an application in writing?!.

Does our badge change now or am I making that up? Is it a star on top or is it a gold plate ??

It’s pretty easy to gloss this one over and set sights back on the league but this is a great achievement.

I remember the 2005 final, a turgid affair against São Paulo. This time we had more class than our Brazilian opponents. It’s bloody hard to win this tournament so it’s well worth celebrating.

The Ref was abysmal, typical FIFA shite but that’s all part of the game in these types of tournaments. Ditto Flamengo tactics, they were pretty much par for the course.

Only obvious downside was Ox, hope it’s just a sprain but either way you’d expect he will be out for a few weeks at best.

Wakey, wakey Champions of the World supporters :)
How are we doing?

tbf, we had tough and credible opponents who are huge in south American football, so our win is huge.
