Bah..... referee cheats! Players did well, they did everything you could have asked for other than being more clinical in their finishing. I would like our forward to really sort their feet out. Too many easy chances went begging!

VAR was pointless in this match.

That really hurts. Two borderline B squads here. We played pretty good in the second half, could have scored a few more. Chelsea to their credit were pretty good too, seemed like a toss up but Hazard really came on and won it for them basically single-handedly. Refereeing was notably poor but what can you do. Sucks to go out of a cup even though it's a pretty pointless cup. Need revenge on Saturday, have to finish chances and some how contain Hazard.

I don't at all like Klopp giving Shaq the business as they're walking off the field. That wasn't cool and very un-Klopp. Shaq was one of the hardest workers all day. There are about 3 or 4 others that simply didn't show up. Really disappointed with Fabinho. And Moreno is a joke of a "defender"

It's not nice to lose in that manner, especially to Chelsea at Anfield, but this game won't define our season. Saturday is infinitely more important.

Players impressed in that second half after struggling to get a grip on the game initially.

Klopp gave the match away by fielding a not so well developed & organized team; and by not playing Gomez, we needed a defender to protect lead, Sturridge was doing quite fine as a poacher, he was getting chances

Klopp has just given Shaq a bollocking for something. Don’t know what that’s about. I thought he was the best player on the pitch.
Didn't get the ball into the box quick enough near the end.

I am glad he didn't put Gomez in. I don't want him to have to take up all the slack from panic-duo. Defensively, we were not troubled until the referee starts giving out freekicks to Chelsea for fun.

Congratulations Chavski! Your Ref won your team a match. What a fucking disgrace. Two Handballs and a pull in the box not worth a pen.
Gave every 50/50 to them. Doubious eqalizer on top.

Go rott in your own shit Friend , you fucking cheat.

Mom goes to Keita , with Shaq a close second - he was a bit to eager to score himself on a few occasions. Irksome to lose against this shower in that fashion - let's destroy them on saturday and by a dreadfull margin - pretty please with suggar on top.

Hazard fresh as a daisy, up against our 16/17 defence was always a worrying prospect. What a goal from Hazard.

We did okay. Sturridge scored a wonderful goal. Shaqiri looked good. Fabinho settled into it well. The drop off from Trent and Robbo to Clyne and Moreno is huge.

Would liked for us to have got through. Now all focus to the PL game. The pleasing thing is we will be back to our usual back 5.

Bring on Sat.

I really wasn't going to be gutted unless there were injuries. Crowd seemed a bit quiet. DS hat-trick this season now unlikely.

The 1st goal was clearly offside according to VAR... but Mignolet showed why he's a second rate keeper. He should have gobbled up that ball, catching it with both hands. Instead a weak and indecisive punch leads to the Chelsea goal.

On the second goal, Moreno shows why he's a shite defender and our second string left back. Hazard showed his class with that finish no doubt, but it made it easier for him that Moreno played a 'phantom defense'.

The only consolation is that this is only the Carabao Cup that we lost. But clearly putting in too many 2nd stringers onto the 1st team and Liverpool will eventually fold.

Sturridge scored a beauty for our only goal. But he easily could have had two if he hadn't fluffed the sitter vs an empty net earlier in the game.

It felt like Liverpool could have scored more but were wasteful in attack. We need to sort out our offensive efficiency. The defence will be fine with our usual first teamers in place - ie Alisson and Robertson.
