If we don't win the League this year then it's never going to happen!!
Looked so comfortable in the first 30 minutes then hit a wall. No sign of our midfield for the rest of the day. Allison wants his arse kicking for dropping a Sunday League bollack like that. Will it just be the one game he misses?
Gave my MOM to the only possible candidate. The Dutch giant.

Still early days...but 11 points above Man City and Leicester, 14 above Chelsea. Not convinced Everton can do a job against Leicester tomorrow but even then, we are in a very good position. Its not the best way to win games but to put it into perspective....if we win 2-1 every game, we are champions.
There'll be no-one left alive that spans the fallow years though.

Van Dijk was really good probably the MotM. Lallana was excellent after coming on and Gini and Hendo were excellent as well. Adrian made that crucial save and expecting him to be sharp after absolutely no warm up and suddenly brought in such a situation, he was excellent given the context.

I would however vote for Ox, Hendo and Adrian because of the shit they got in match thread.

I didn't get to see Big Virg's goals live, but watching them on replay they were absolute stunners. Beautiful goals, the both of them.

Alisson had a brain freeze. It happens. He was going on instinct and it was just "one of those moments". Having said that, I don't think he has been particularly good since coming back. He just seems unsure of himself and is playing a lot more "unorthodox" than we've seen of him. If that makes any sense. He missed over 2 months so obviously it's going to take time to get back to his 100% form. I'm not worried.

Atkinson is 100% asshole. @Limiescouse gave a perfect explanation in the game thread why it was an egregiously quick whistle and it screwed us over in the process. Atkinson knew what he was doing.

3 points is 3 points is 3 points!!

A good start for us in the opening 20 mins, with two headed goals from VVD. We then started to lose possession a lot by trying to be very direct to goal. This allowed Brighton to take control of possession in the final 15 mins of the first half. But we went back in the dressing at the half way stage with a clean sheet and two goals up, making a change from some of our previous games.

In the second, we seemed to be in a little game management mode, by not over exerting ourselves and conserving some energy which will be needed in the mad run of games in December.

Everything seemed easy until a brain fart from Alison, who instinctively put his hand to the ball, but should’ve known where he was. On came Adrian, and a smartly taken goal for Brighton, who took advantage of Adrian still trying to line up his wall. This goal was aided by the ref, who whistled while standing next to the freekick taker. The same ref who allowed three tactical fouls (two on Mane, and one on Ox) to be let off with no yellow.
Anyway, we should’ve been more savvy in that position, such as someone tying their shoelace in front of the ball. Most refs would’ve taken a couple of strides away before whistling, but not to be today.

Adrian will step in for the next game, so I expect the bitters to try to test him. Adrian has a howler in him, but he did more than well in his first spell, and I think he will continue. We’ll need to change our play slightly, as Adrian is not the best with the ball.

Anyway, from a comfortable two goal lead going into the final few minutes, and then turning into a 10 man defensive mission in the blink of an eye with the goal and red card. You didn’t think it would be easy, did you?

We were over-run in the midfield from 30 to 60, and we were having a lot of trouble with their press. Even with 10 men, I never thought we were going to concede another, though it felt a little lucky in the end.

Having said that, we should have buried this match earlier. Ryan made 3-4 fantastic saves that could have put us home and dry.

Ok, however why can our defense not listen to Adrian and get the wall in place. It was a fiasco and I think many EPL refs would have given up waiting!
I have no idea what the rules say on that one to be honest. I thought goalies should be given the freedom to do it, especially when they come in as a sub, but I wouldn't be surprised to be proven wrong there.

we regularly seem to take the foot of the throttle, and I wonder if it’s too make the supporters start looking for the panic button ;);) I don’t know how many times I have swallowed mine LOL

My understanding is the ref can whistle when he feels the urge. Then againthere's not much I understand about refs. ;)

Perfect post. Agreed on Adrian. Gets dropped into a high pressure situation and still comes up with multiple big saves. Brighton were looking to fire from all angles. I thought the very first save he made was brilliant.

I joined the match in the 56th minute and Ox looked like he was everywhere, looking great. I love that guy and how he plays football so maybe my perception is skewed.
