Nice to win.

Trying to put a positive spin on the shit situation we now have for Saturday...

Southampton want to press high and gegenpress - if we are tired we are more likely to sit deep and conserve energy thus nulifying their threat.

Result is what matters. Really could have done without extra time.
Saints will be a very very tough ask now.
Sounds reckons on Irish tv it will be 1.30 UK time before they get out of the stadium.
Do they fly home tonight or stay over?

Picture yourself in Adrian’s shoes.....

A couple of weeks ago he’s floating around on his pink flamingo sipping a cocktail.....pondering where it all went wrong.....and today he’s lifting a trophy with one of the biggest clubs in the world whilst some of the best players in world football are celebrating him as a hero.

Amazing.

Usually they go straight onto the plane and get them home as soon as possible because they can't do any real rehab work until they are at Melwood.

I'm seriously worried how opponents penetrate true our midfield and defence, saw City, Norwich end now Chelsea do it.

Referee mist the handball in the first 5 minutes and the penalty they got was a joke. VAR did not wanted to hang her out to dry. Liked the blond lines person though. :D

Gotta love Istanbul! Would've been a big kick in the balls to play 120 mins in those conditions and come away with nothing. Instead we get a shiny new trophy to bring home.

Stoked for the boys. Quick celebration then straight in to the ice baths and home please.

Ps VAR sucks

A nice little trophy to add to the collection. The second half and extra-time were much better from the lads, and so they came back into it. Very difficult conditions for both teams, and some events going against us (that was never a pen and thus a hard blow for our lads). So, mental toughness decided it tonight, and that's a very reassuring aspect looking forward to the coming season.

Edit: I was glad when Bobby came on after half-time. He instantly changed the game and his two assists for Mané reflect his key contribution. Still gave my MoM to Adrian for making key saves all night long, and also for the beautiful story for him on a personal level.

Really important we won that penalty shoot out. Losing after 2 hours in that heat would have been fucking brutal. Hopefully winning will give us an energy boost for Saturday. Unconvincing at the back again. Lot of work to do there. Still it was worth it to see JK's sprint across the pitch at the end.

Poetic justice that Abraham fluffs his lines after conning the ref for the pen that resulted in the equaliser.

Happy to see us continue the winning habit, and delighted for Adrian. I heard someone say that's his first trophy win, and in his first start for Liverpool, what a night for him. Gave him the MoM for that alone.

1. Good result, mediocre performance. Fantastic to have another trophy.

2. If VAR doesn't stop cheats getting penalties, then it's a waste of time. Whatever the gender the referee !

3. Karma that the cheat missed the penalty in the shoot out.
