I posted the following in the Pre Match thread:

"I’ve just been reliably informed from a very unique and special match going friend that it’s 8-0, 3 hat tricks. He’s guaranteed it."

So his explanation after the match was that he was completely correct. Trent got a hat trick of assists. There was a hat trick of braces - Mane and VVD with the goals, but Robbo also got a brace of assists. Allison made a hat trick of saves.

And the 8-0 was derived from some "Expected Goals" formula which had the match on 7.8 - 0.4 which rounded up is 8-0.

So there we are.

the most important in the deadly trio ( salah - firmino - mane ) is to destroy defenders line and create fear not scoring goals , all teams now scared even if the deadly trio not scoring !
it is in the mind and they feel it .
You were one of my favourite groups in the 60s. Some of your riffs were a bit repetitive though....and I never really understood the words.

Now you mention it, there is something missing.....in a good way....
OK, thought we really missed Fekir last night. Could have done with strengthening in January - another attacking option, more midfield initiative (did you notice no midfielders scored or assisted?) and a proper partner for VVD. Not sure what the owners are playing at. On another night we could have lost that 3-2.

We have an opportunity to really kick on and win that league, and it seems that Klopp and the owners are not really focused on that. I mean even if we were 10 points in the lead, it would still be mathematically possible to lose it - so I still wouldn't be happy.

Well, there you go. You did ask for it.

I have a wonderful life. A great and successful career. I am well educated. In every respect I am superior to you. I have travelled the world, sailed the seven seas and this has brought me into contact with different creeds and cultures from every corner of the globe. Through my travels my mind has been opened to everything that the world has to offer. The main thing I have learnt from this is that people are vile and hate scousers. I am Liverpool born and bred and those of you who are not can never understand the pain of being constantly stereotyped by arrogant gobby Mancs, annoying cheeky chappy Cockneys, tight Yorkshiremen, drunken Scots and don't even get me started on foreigners.

I love this club. This wonderful club built on socialist principles by that working class hero, Bill Shankly. By the way, I vote Conservative. I just thought I'd let you know that as it makes me sound rich.

Now that I have made you feel inferior and have even maybe extracted a little of your sympathy I can start to talk down to you about football.

Klopp is a serial loser. Forget all those pots and pans he won in Germany. They don't count as they undermine my argument. Even though he always does the direct opposite of what I tell him to do and we usually end up winning, you should only focus on the times when we do not win. On these occasions I knew what to do and Klopp didn't. This makes me superior to Klopp as well as you. It is always simply a case of replacing a player that Klopp played with a different player that I would have played. If this had happened then the result is reversed. That is how football works.

Our squad is ill-equipped for a title challenge. Although this opinion suggests that Klopp is working a miracle you are to ignore that as it undermines my argument about Klopp being a serial loser who constantly makes mistakes. To build a squad that competes you need at least two players of exactly the same quality in every position on the pitch. Really good players are very happy to sit on the bench and never get a game and just take huge wages for doing fuck all. This is how you build team spirit.

The reason our squad is ill-equipped is that FSG are extracting money from the club. No one else knows this but me. They do it by slicing money off the commercial deals they broker for the club and by appointing FSG people like Mike Gordon and Billy Hogan who then have the cheek to take a salary. This is Liverpool FC cash that belongs to the club. The same club that didn't have a pot to piss in 9 years ago. If only FSG would stop this and stop giving us huge loans that the club pay back at a measly 2% interest so we can rebuild Anfield and have state of the art training facilities then we would not have had to loan out Nathaniel Clyne.

Above all I am always right. I have a broken clock in my expensive house and it is right twice a day. This is a fact and you can not argue against it. By constantly predicting the worst possible outcome in every single scenario I am always going to be right occasionally and when I am it gives me no pleasure at all to come on here, or in the Liverpool Echo comments section, and say 'I told you so'. Or maybe it does, just a little bit.

4 wins in 10.

Would like to give the whole team MotM, every single player out there deserved it, fantastic from start to finish and from back to front. Much needed win and good morale booster going into this weekends game against Everton.

10 more of the same please :-)

As I mentioned in the pre game thread, couldnt get to the game last night so whoever bought my seat, I hope they had a great time. Neither was I paying any money to Amazon or whoever it was to watch a midweek game. I decided instead just to look at Livescore for goal updates.

Reading reports it was a great performance by the boys and, just as importantly, the crowd. There's no better way to stuff all the venom from the haters, moaners and media back down their throats than with a result like this. All this crap about pressure, cracking up is just a load of BS. Sure, Im the first to admit we havent played well, Bayern aside, German Champions no less, in a couple of league games. But, we've had fairly substantial injury issues and we still didnt lose in that period.

Sadio always cuts a strange figure to me. He can be a real quality player or he can be very clumsy in his decision making and passing. But, the last 4 or 5 games, the lad has carried us through. Im not sure Sadio realises just what an accomplished player he could become if he could knock the rough edges off his game. Two brilliantly taken goals and while the back heel will be talked about the most, that header reminded me of John Toshack.

It is also great to see Divi getting a goal and Virgil even bagged a brace. Ive been banging on of late that we dont seem to take many shots from the edge of the box neither do our CBs score enough goals. So, its great that Divock got a goal with a shot and Virgil nodded two in. By all account both Trent and Andy banged over some great crosses last night and I think we've missed that. Andy in particular hadnt been as accurate as he can be in previous games so again, its very good to see him back to his best.

All in all, everyone in the team got high scores according to the Echo. Not having seen the game, I cannot give a MoTM but Fabinho seemed to be the glue that held it all together as did Allison with another fine save and clean sheet.

Onto the derby on Sunday. We need to be on our metal because no matter how shit everton are, they always raise their game against us. Just a shame they lay down so easily for the two manchester clubs in particular. Cmon reds.

That's the high energy and intensity performance I've been waiting to see from these Reds for a while now. I mentioned to a mate that it was around this time last year that we exploded into life and I really hope last night was the catalyst for more of the same for the last 10 games.

We should be fresh and fatigue should not be an issue with our limited cup involvement and 2 recent long breaks. If we can play at last nights tempo for the remaining games against teams that will be tiring after a long season we could actual dare to dream.

Sunday is massive now last really hard away game and 3 points would be a big statement, the statement we have been waiting for.

Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Milner, Mane, Salah, Origi.
I just hope Origi get a run in the team now to prove he got that wow factor like Rushdie & Klopp doesn't twiddle with this line up.

New song for the lads
To the tune of Blitzkreig Bop by The Ramones

Trent is down the byline
Mane’s in his eyeline
He’ gonna cross it in now
Juergen Klopp

Hey ho let’s go
Stick it in the net Mo
What we want they all know
Three more points and we go

Robbo’s down the byline
Bobby’s in his eyeline
He’s gonna cross it in now
Juergen Klopp

Quite catchy. And thanks for not creating one to "I wanna be sedated"

Someone please correct me if i'm wrong but have we ever looked better when one of our Front3 were missing?
I don't think so. It's our best scoreline since last season anyway. We have also seen that Firmino was a bit off during the last games, so maybe him having to miss out was a blessing in disguise, as it meant that our lads didn't think everything had to go through Bobby, which is too often the case imo, making us a bit too predictable lately. This game will have shown them (and Klopp, and himself) that he isn't indispensable to all of our attacking moves. That should give more freedom to everyone in the future, also to himself when he comes back into the team.

It's a case of adapting to suit the circumstances but it does make me wonder whether sticking Mane up front would have worked in the Manchester United or West Ham games? I rather suspect that it wouldn't have done as Watford were not parking the bus. However, I do wonder whether playing Shaq on the left and moving Mane into the middle may have been a smarter option when Bobby got injured.

Looking forward to the Everton game now. I'll actually be in Liverpool at the weekend as I'm visiting the Leonardo da Vinci exhibit at the Walker art gallery although I don;t have a ticket for the game so I'll be probably watching the game at the pub with my Bluenose brother.

Fantastic performance from everyone, Watford done what all clubs should do against us attack and we will teach them a lesson, could have been a couple more, mane looked lethal, Trent with superb crossing and Origi looking top class, great stuff, i wonder will the bitters play football or park the bus.
