I hate to criticise a Liverpool player but.......Downing is heading the leaderboard as the worst value-for-money signing that we have ever made; if BR wasn't convinced before tonight then surely his mind is made up now.

Hat's off to our young ones as they came of age tonight. I don't think we can compete on four fronts this season simply because of the size of the squad, but each win gives the team more confidence and hopefully this one will have a knock-on effect with our league form.

Assaidi must start from now on imo as he gives our attack that which it has been sadly lacking (Suarez excepted) for a while now: Flair and technique, which are a defender's worst nightmare.

when I listened to that it got me thinking, this must be a conflict of interest and does anyone know if there are regulations for the contact refs may have with different clubs?
Judging by the reaction on twitter and facebook, it's going to lead to nothing, what with the vile attacks the ref got on twitter that he didn't deserve. It's too sensitive a subject and everyone is leading with the JT story......shame.

We had about 57% I think
The most important stat is that we scored more goals than them. I like them stats!!

I do wonder if Rodgers unlike managers before him is far more comfortable in dropping poorly playing players look at Cole for instance and Enrique you would have expected to feature tonight due to lack of fitness is nowhere.

I'm more than happy for him to do so mind if the players replacing them play as well as that, sometimes desperate times call for desperate mesures but he is the first one in a long time unafraid to play these lads (Dalgish with Sterling perhaps) and they are re-paying him, I do wonder if we like Spurs may see the benefits of Comolli after he has gone.

Not really; he'll be forever associated with CHAD.

Magnificent win. Don't need to add much. Chuffed to bits that the young lads are continuing to show their worth. Fruits of Rafa's hard work with the academy really beginning to pay off.

Yes but I think we are seeing some of the younger quality he was bringing in, mind you our scouting at youth level has in recent years been particulary good, Sterling looks like a steal even if he costs the full amount the deal could finally arrive at.

Have to say, I am a bit curious as to why Rodgers chose to bring on Sinclair ahead of Morgan. Was it just to prove, by putting on the youngest player ever in a Liverpool shirt, that the youth revolution is on? Morgan has shown some real flashes in the time he's had in pre-season and early season.
Yesil looked like he was tiring and Sinclair would give more pace than morgan.

Sly sports Stats saying West brom 50.2 possession Liverpool 49.8 surely thats very wrong.
They did have a lot towards the end

Great performance bar Downing. Jesus he is a lame duck. It must be embarassing for him to be totally outshone by the young players. Sahin is a top class player, lets hope he continues this form and we get a permanent deal for him. Looks like we have two good full backs in the making also. How long have we been crying out for a real winger and finally we may have one in Assaidi. He looked pacy, tricky and had an end product. Kudos to Brendan for having the courage to pick this team given the results and pressure he is under. All we need now is a league win and the mood will lift. The futures bright.

Frank McPartland is the guy responsible for our academy acquisitions working with Borrel and (till he left) Segura. Comolli thankfully had very little dealings in that area. The Academy has been fantastic for awhile now. It wasn't as bad as Rafa would have people believe (fair few graduates knocking round the top two leagues and we made 3 out of 6 youth cup finals winning two and did well in few reserve leagues and stuff too) but Rafa needs a huge thank you for insisting it was improved as its now awesome.

west brom fielded their strongest side, the one the that put 3 past us on opening day.

after today i must wonder, who is our "senior" team ?

is it the one that hasn't won yet this season, or the one that won two games, after coming from behind ?

if tonights team keeps playing all the EL, FA and Capital one , i think at the end they just might out play the PL team.

Looks like Brad may not be to blame for dropping that ball:

Hmmm not sure, think a top level keeper still needs to be able to plough through that stuff, the picture made it look worse than the live action. Did feel sorry for him though. Love Brad he is such a nice guy and so respectful and that and he looked so devastated after it went in I actually got chocked up for him!

Great win lads.Echo a lot of thoughts regarding players.

On my part I admit to not having watched much of Pacheo and when I seen him last week thought he may have missed his chance with us, did not impress really. But tonight I thought he was great so he proved my initial assumption wrong and would like to see the boy again.

Thought Sinclair looked speedy when coming on but I also left a little confused, people on here rate Ngoo who has been working away and also Morgan who I rate as deserving more of a chance. I admit to not watching much reserve or youth team football but from what I pick up on here he does seem to have bunked the que somehow. Saying that made up for the lad.

Made up with the win, caught some of the game on a poor stream but I am so pleased that Brendan is giving the youth a chance, what a boost it must be for them. Suso looks class, I'd love him or Sterling to net 1 or 2 at the weekend and see what that does for their confidence! I hope Brendan gets the support he deserves, he's trying something that we should have done years ago, things will come right, I know it. Having a mate calling us the second best team on Merseyside was upsetting, hopefully I can shove that down his throat in a few weeks time.

i just think the whole sinclair issue is simply a birthday present to the lad.
give the kid a few minutes on the pitch, after the lead is achieved.

i doubt we'll see him again this season.

It was 1-1. Personally think it was a case of "Why not?" He has been on fire and Rodgers just decided to give it a shot. Nothing to lose. Expect Ngoo to receive similar chance and Morgan got a recent Europa League game too.

Before Youtube takes it down. You could almost see Rodgers smile and have the look on the face of 'this is what I've been waiting for'
That is absolute porn.

I love the perfectly weighted pass from Suso to Assaidi, and then how Suso whips his head to look over to the space Sahin is running through.

You can see just how scared opposition already are of Suso in that clip with 3 defensive players desperately trying to close him down. Sinclairs movement was also brilliant running off one player, who sh1t himself and followed in panic, onto the other player, essentially taking the only 2 other West Brom players out of the equation.

In any other circumstances you should be able to cope as the attacked team if you have a 5 v 4 advantage with more players streaming back.

I have to say, this same thought crossed my mind too. BR isn't slow either, he'll pick up on it.

If the senior players can't raise their game, they can step aside. I don't care if you're Reina, Skrtel, Gerrard or Enrique - if you aren't at the races - step aside. I don't care what you did two seasons ago, we have to live in the present.

I'm so chuffed to bits that we've, FINALLY, got a bunch of young players coming through. Young players that actually look the business rather the ones that we have to convince ourselves are good.

Very happy with Sahin too. I think he'll gain alot of confidence from that performance. I pray that we keep him. He could be a part of this beautiful new team we are building.

True but at the same time the kids are alot better than they were.

That said, very few managers would be giving as much chances as BR. i love it.

Out of interest, if all of them were fully fit, fully settled and in good form, who would peoples choice for a 3 man midfield chosen from Gerrard, Lucas, Sahin, Allen, Henderson, Shelvey and Suso. Think mine would actually be Gerrard, Sahin and Allen even if Lucas was fit. And don't think Suso would be too far off inviting himself to the party.

Well done to the youngins again, they played with some great courage against a tough team who are currently ranked 4th. I think we're finding it easier in the cup competitions because we have less pressure than an EPL game, also the young kids are stepping up remakably well. Suso is a really clever and he's going to be a world class player.

We are so close to where we want to be yet so far, we need a proven goal scorer and we'll be soaring up the table. I'd snatch demba ba in a heart beat he's cheap and goals guaranteed.

Tough one, eh?

How about a diamond midfield?

Lucas
Gerrard Allen LW
Sahin

very difficult to leave Lucas out. Also, in a year or so Shelvey will be first 11 material too. I really hope Sahin stays in any event.

Not sure we will ever see all of them fully fit and rolling at the same time. Gerrard isn't a young un', Lucas has obviously had his issues in the last few years, and it goes to show that we may have class and depth at the position. If I had to pick, I would say Lucas, Allen, and Gerrard. Let's see Sahin reproduce that form (he was amazing tonight) in the PL a few times before we pencil him in instead of Lucas.
