Let's hope that our key signing at last triggers every add-on clause inserted into his contract.
MK 9m cheaper and vastly superior who could be sold for a profit Mane couldnt be, well not at this stage anyway
I agree with you however Mane will be more of what we want.
Hummels and Gundogan were also great deals and better proven players for a lot less
Saying all of that Klopp wants the player and he has got the player hopefully time proves Klopp right
Fair play I think he is a 20-25 mil player as well I thought you where going on the 30 mil figure.
Think we just have to accept that players like this are going to command a higher fee because none of the EPL clubs have to sell anymore. They do still sell but they can hold out for whatever fee they want. Unless you catch a break and the player is in the final year of his contract or he makes his position untenable ala Sterling then the selling club can do as they please really.
Sadio Mane has medical as Liverpool agree transfer fee of £34m with Southampton
Southampton fans 'celebrate' Mane fee
That's the price for not buying him 2 years ago when he was cheap.
What do you mean Mane couldn't be sold for a profit at this stage? Of course he couldn't - we're only just about to sign him.
1) If the primary reason of signing Mane was for his resale value then I'd be bitterly disappointed.
2) If that IS the case then he has a couple of years of development and, if he improves under Klopp, he will definitely be worth more than £36 million.
Also, how can you compare Bayern and City's signings with ours? They're shopping in a completely different market. City signed a player going into the final year of his contract who missed half of last season and arrived in Manchester on crutches (Dortmund seemed overjoyed with the fee they got for him), and likewise Bayern signed a player going into the final year of his contract at Dortmund (for 35 million euros). I'm sure if we stood a chance of attracting him to Anfield then we would've got him. You can't compare our signings with clubs who are currently sitting at a level or two above of where we are at the moment.
For me, the fee is a secondary issue, what's more important is that we're providing Klopp with the tools he needs to get us where he thinks he can get us.
It doesn't matter what sky says ,if Carra says the price is £30 mil that should be enough to end the debate really.
Either way just check the Southampton forum they are absolutely are seething at Mane being sold .
He is like the opposite of the pound currently his fee keeps rising hour on hour.
Can we try to consolidate Mane related posts to one thread, Please... I am having a hard time on who said what where... please.. anyone... please
OK... I take that request back, I am sure in the fullness of time it will happen.. I need to be more patient..
£30 million has been quoted all along. I call bullshit on these journalists saying it is more all of the sudden, but I think other idiots are going to latch onto it the same way they did when we got Firmino for £22m + add-ons. Whatever fits their agenda.
Ronaldino wants Brazilian squad builded aroun Firmino, he said in an interview.
That means Firmino is the core player of Brazil.
His price will grow rapidly in next years.
Maybe the fees were agreed before Brexit and it's on USD?
But Lallana plays on the right in 4-2-3-1 which is where Mane exactly played for the Saints. Mane is taking Lallana's spot in the first time for sure unless Klopp is going to rearrange his formation but I don't see how a team could be created with Lallana, Firmino, Coutinho, Sturridge, and Mane unless Coutinho and Lallana plays in central midfield which I doubt is going to happen
i would like if we actually stop talking about money, and more about the player
two in the bag.. what's next? LB or a CM?
Seems like the club is working on both. Then there's maybe the possibility of another central defender, depending on the Sakho thing.
That would be nice, but unfortunately we've seen the albatross that fees can be to players before, so it has to at least be mentioned.
In response to your question: LB
ugh. another overpayment to Soton. If it weren't for the £50M for Torres and £49M for Sterling we would be the joke of the BPL.
Oh wait...we still have Balo, Benteke, and Lallana on the payroll.
whoops. Don't know why I had that in my head. Well then we overpaid and he sucks!
I'm kidding. The price just increases the risk. Klopp needs to get his first big signing right or it will set us back another year. Lot of pressure on it no doubt.
Mane played on the right and the left for Southampton and sometimes through the centre.
I actually think he has his best game coming from the left
Wearing the number 29 as he leaves his medical - Fabio Borini's old number
Might just be whatever kit was at hand. But he was born in '92...
29. He's confident. That's how many goals and assists he will provide us with next season.
He looks like a mafia member after visiting a prison tbh.
Warrior training gear is all the rage in Sicily these days. Those Sicilians come not to play.
I mean on the photo above.
Yeah, i got it, just not sure why you said it.
Klopp wanted him. Good enough for me. It's not my money they're paying for him with.
Klopp needed a player for this position. They decided to buy Mane. It's not time to talk about why him and not someone else. Let's judge him after we'll see him playing.
I believe he will be good. And he will make our squad stronger of course.
Let's be positive and confident about our new player!!!
Don't you as LFC fan care about LFC's money?
Don't you want cheaper tickets, better infrastructure etc.?
If we qualify for Champions League and get past the group stage the next season because of Mane, I'd be happy to pay £38.5m
