What cash, we don’t have any money, remember?

That’d be an intriguing proposition. Today Mane is better but Mbappe is so much younger he would be part of the present and future. Wages aside, do wonder how many years he’d stay before making his apparent dream move to Real.
Not a terrible deal for us as much as I like Mane. But why in all the universe would Sadio agree to go to PSG?

From today’s BBC gossip column

Liverpool have made a £54m bid for Napoli and Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly. The 29-year-old is also interesting Manchester United and Chelsea. (Corriere dello Sport)

I think Napoli would probably laugh at that offer; besides, would we splash the cash on someone who is almost 30 and would block Gomez’s progress?

This Koulibaly transfer rumour has been in the Liverpool echo on a daily basis over the past couple of months, with the quotes from the owner De Laurentiis saying we will sell for £90mill but won't listen to offers around the £55mill mark.

If we've got tons of cash stashed away that none of us know about and it doesn't impact on buying a Havertz/Sancho type player in the not so distant future, then i wouldn't mind pairing him up with Virgil for a few years, throw in Lovren for free and i'd be sold,It would give Gomez some more time to develope and learn from the best 2 CB's on the planet atm,he's only just turned 23 and CB's don't tend to come into their own till mid 20's,which would be a perfect time to unleash Gomez and Hoever as a back up.

Pie in the sky if i'm honest,i just don't see the age/value and reason to strengthen that position right now, when LB,Midfield and forward back up positions need investing in more first.

It’s nonsense. Probably originates from Napoli, trying to spark a bid.

Besides, in Gomez and Van Dijk we already have a world class pair.

He is a diamond. But he is trying to get into a position where we are strong and the need to rotate is not as great. Virg and Gomez are locked in to the two positions, Matip is next in line, and then I think Fab would be used before Hoever.

The reason why Elliot is being discussed is because there are big doubts about Origi and Shaq and there is a big chance for Elliot to stake a claim as a squad option.

I do think that the four big academy prospects are Williams, Hoever, Jones and Elliot. But I think Hoever has the toughest path ahead of him.
I think Hoever makes it here as a no.6. He looks so silky on the ball, excellent passing range and has all the defensive nous from playing the various backline positions.

I'd quite like to see that. Or to see him develop as the Fabinho understudy in quite a flexible role. Both can cover full back positions if really needed and both have real ability or potential ability at CB and DM. Having those two players basically is the equivalent of having maybe 3 specialists who can only play 1 position. Klopp won't ever utilise the whole "22 senior international level players, 2 per position" that some other managers seek for full squad strength but having say maybe 15 top outfield talents who are multi functional plus maybe 5 real top youth prospects that play multiple outfield roles (like Hoever) is something I think would be his ideal.

Thiago was massively complimentary towards us some time last year or before. Called us animals or something similar (if Im remembering right) because we just keep going an never give up. Really seemed like he admired us. Top player an seems to know his football

I'm a super big fan of Thiago. We in Brazil were pretty sad when he decided to play for Spain NT. Rafinha, his twin brother, decided to play for Brazil but he is not good enough lol

He is kinda the opposite of a Liverpool midfielder, though. He is unbelievably good with the ball at his feet but he would be bullied very easily in PL, can't run for too long, can't press, too old (for a Klopp buy) and very injury prone. He could substitute Silva at City. he is their kind of midfielder, not ours. Also, he is expensive too.

I don't see any truth in those rumors about him.

I guess this is transfer related but can someone explain to me how this even makes sense?
I think the agents get a cut when a contract is renewed, and we've had a lot of renewals in recent times for some of our top earners.

Yeah, they always get a commission fee whenever their client signs a contract with a club. If you're Mino Raiola, I imagine that commission fee is large enough for you to fund some transfer all by yourself!

That wouldnt surprise me. They desperately need a CB and wont be put off from making a signing for the short term. Based on his reputation, Koulibaly sounds like a good signing to have alongside Laporte.
Yep when fit Laporte and Koulibaly (if they mesh well and have good chemistry, never guaranteed) have the on paper qualities to rival Gomez and VvD but still think our boys would have the edge. Matip and Fabinho would still be better at CB than anyone else they have on their books though.

Koulibaly is a very good player and would significantly improve them in their weakest area. Fingers crossed the ban is upheld. He might think twice.
