From 20 K a week or less, they now went to a club giving them 60-80K a week. That's like you able to buy a new BMW 3 series every week in your current smaller club, while you can go and splurge on a Porsche Carrera S each week for the heck of it. Big difference. Hence why young kids move to big club. Earn crazy money for a couple of years then move on to smaller club after paying off your big house and have extras to buy your mom and dad their dream house too. Then they start playing real football.
Seen so many promising talents reduced to nothing much by doing so, depends what you want from a career i guess.

And they say money has ruined the game.

Really desperate for Walcott to come here as I think he would be the perfect player to complete our attacking trio with Suarez and Sturridge. All three players prefer to play through the middle and score goals but at the same time, all three can and often will drift wide to use their pace and trickery to get into dangerous positions to provide service or to cut back on their stronger foot and shoot from range.

In short, if we were able to have a front three of Walcott, Sturridge, and Suarez, there would really be no distinction at all between the starting center forward operating as a false 9 and the two wide forwards playing on either side of him as all three players in the attacking trio would be interchanging constantly and playing in all three positions throughout the game. Something that would surely cause defenders a lot of trouble and confusion.

Unfortunately, I just can't see this signing happening as I get the feeling that we have already used the bulk of FSG's meager budget on Sturridge.

I'd love this one to happen as well, but I just can't see it with the way he's playing at the moment. Wenger would be smart to hold on to him and let him leave on a free(if he can't be persuaded to sign something) because his goals are Arsenal's best hope for a top four spot (and the massive pay day that comes with CL footy).

On paper Theo seems great for us but I don't think he has the required mentality. He only has fight in him during certain periods in his life or during certain games. If we were in the CL then he'd be worth signing, but out of CL we need players that will fight every single week and he represents very poor value in my opinion.

Icing on the cake type of player, a super sub for a top side. We have yet to finish baking our cake, let alone adding the icing. Neither the stamina nor steel to play week in week out and drive a Europa Team into the CL. Inconsequential anyway as we can all agree he will stay at Arsenal unless some moneybags club picks him up.

If he was a real Red, and wanted to score for the Kop, we'd already be in advanced talks with him. He shouldn't need a raise to come here. Quite sure Agger could've joined City this summer if he wanted to, yet he is sacrificing a few BMWs per week to be here. If he's loyal to Arsenal, then good on him, he should either stay there or try to win a title and impress Europe with Juventus.

The noises he is making in his latest interviews would suggest he will stay with Arsenal.
If we are in the market for another forward I hope he has pace because its an asset we lack in the final third IMO.

Give him 100k if it means we will sign him. That kid is going to be special. He is maturing and peaking at a very good time. Without him arsenal seem to struggle. Even more incentive for us to grab a star player from a rival team.
If we offload cole, downing and doni we may free up enough wage to accommodate him. Heck i dont mind downing+3 million for theo. Thank god downing had a good run prior to the window.

All of them, not only the overrated english players.
Doesn't matter if it's messi, ronaldo, shrek, etc.

But then again some people say it's supply and demand, a free market etc.
They still earn way too much compared to "real life".

better close this one up as we're pretty sure he'll get his contract renewal rather sooner than later.

I've never bought a single page of this story anyway, so much that even the Sneijder rumour looks more realistic to me !

and about this "we've had an epiphany, he can be our new striker" thing, good call Arsène! after all, he's only been there for seven years now...

God damn where is the fun around here. I wrote a "great piece" of tabloid journalim in the unreliable thread, we should be having a chat about that.
This is the most boring transfer window EVER. (into its 4th day)

Maybe somebody could just photoshop theo's head on a lad wearing our red shirt.
And then send it to the tabloids.

Have you looked at his performance the last three seasons? Two seasons ago when Arsenal had Walcott, RvP, Fabregas, Walcott, that was one of the best attacking tandems in any league. For the 2012-13 season: 14 goals and 9 assists

For the 2011-2012 Season: 9 goals and 9 assists

For the 2010 - 2011 season: 14 goals and 11 assists

Say what you will about required mentality and what not, truth is that he knows where the goal is, get him a midfielder that will get him the ball early or spot his diagonal runs when he runs behind, and you have a scorer or someone that can pick out someone else in the box.Anyone would be happy to have such a player, dont know why some are so keen to write him off

Doesnt mean that you cannot appreciate the talent on another team.
True.
The problem with walcott might be that many fans formed an opinion years ago:
english, overrated, average, speed merchant etc.
A few weeks ago I still wasn't convinced although I rated him a while ago.
Now he is allowed to play in the center and seems to be good enough.

I really want us to get Walcott now. As talent and low transfer fees aside, it will seriously hurt Arsenal, who probably the biggest rival for us if we want to get back in top 4 (this season or even in next few years)

if they have lost players like RvP, Cesc, Henry who were all better players, i fail to see how they will not replace Walcott

He has ben one of the better performing wingers in the league for the last 3 seasons, not many have averaged near double figures for both goals and assists. He is going to get at least 20 goals 15 assists if he stays fit for the rest of the season, if you dont think that he is worth that money, then i dont know who is.He aint flashy, neither is Hernandez but like Inzaghi, they know where the goal is, and players like that are worth every penny.

Yes. Its just the 8 th day and there is almost no one to discuss about. But by then its just a Jan window.
BR is saying that we will have a 'big summer'. Lets see.

BTW on Walcott - will he go back to above average displays from his unbelievably great displays since he has signed the papers?

My only worry is that the big summer will be followed by quotes like- we couldn't get value for our money...

I'm a miserable fcuk I know but the last years have almost gotten to me.

I need a 22m€ surprise signing right now.
