At this moment, besides VVD, I'd buy Ante Coric from Zagreb.
Like someone said (legal alien?) I wouldn't want that leg breaker in and around the club
EDIT: It could be ZB
For all of his experience, he still has some ten good years ahead of him, which I still find unbelievable with players like him and Ox, for example. Klopp probably knows him well from his Dortmund days, he has that combo of qualities that Klopp requires and can play probably any role in midfield three - that's why it would be logical for Liverpool to at least consider him. I'm a fan of Ox because he's similar to Lallana and would cover for wide players as well but I've always been a fan of Kovačić, I think that Lallana's role would be perfect for him - though I think his pressing game would definitely have to improve.
Now that you've mentioned Ceballos, I wonder if Real would consider even a loan move for Kovačić now, I totally forgot about them signing him. Since Keita is a no-go, such a move would be great, we'd definitely have bigger chance of signing Kovačić permanently next season (being a more creative player than Keita or Lallana and we'll definitely miss Coutinho's ability to create something unexpected).
I'd love us to..
Sell for Coutinho - £130mil
Lemar or Asensio - £75mil (Cuntinho replacement)
Keita - £75mil (or Vidal for £40mil)
VVD - £70mil
Total - £220mil
Actual spend £90mil and a massive squad improvement.
TAA Matip VVD Milner
Salah Firmino Mane
Kovacic, yes, Eriksen, yes!
I didn't mean necessarily in this transfer window, perhaps in 2018. It's in the balance whether Coman can establish himself at Bayern (and they only gave him a 3-year deal) and Carrasco should be a realistic target in 2018 anyway.
If we need a Coutinho replacement in this window it's going to be difficult in any case, clubs are unwilling to sell at this stage of the summer. Probably the best course of action would be to force Coutinho stay for one season at least, not buy anyone and see what's needed in 2018.
Prefer Alli to Eriksen plus he's younger and gets goals plus is English so a lot less likely to leave us. He's only on like 50k a week or something so I'd triple his wages and offer most of not all of the cash we get for Coutinho for him. He'd also be an almost seamless fit for our side in that left midfield position cutting in and making runs into the box and getting on the end of things. If we get Keita then we'll have the tempo setter and with Henderson and hopefully Can as well to play the #6 role. With pace and more goals coming from the wide areas and with Bobby setting them up we'll be a handful for anyone.
Agree I'd have Alli over Eriksen but I'd expect Spurs to be wanting a lot more for Alli. Saying if that the option was available to sell Coutinho and use all the funds to sign Alli I'd be over the moon with that
We have more pressing matters to deal with, and that's a new back four!
No just a commanding, ball playing CB who can defend corners
Wonder if you should start a thread? Any suggestions
Think one is already on the go but only has 1 or 2 comments
You have the memory of a goldfish?
If we end up selling Coutinho, what do people think of us putting in a bid for Mahrez? He's available £50m, former EPL player of the season and can play the same role. Seems like a no brainer.
If I didn't say it, I was certainly thinking it furiously.
By the time we get to try to buy the likes of Keita they'll no longer want to come.
We need a proper boss in the midfield before the window closes. Someone like Nainggolan or Strootman.
Agree with that. Need a mean and moody bastard in the mix at times. I think we were linked with Arturo Vidal, would love to pinch him away from Munich.
On the attacking midfield/playmaker front maybe Pitor Zelinski, or preferably Insigne, think it would take almost all the reported fee we've stuck on Coutinho's head if we're to pull that one off though
Our midfield is so unbalanced. 3 players who are neither one thing or the other. All good, solid, sometimes a flash or two of excellence but nothing to open sides up or close sides down. Its a crime after so many transfer windows we are in this position.
Dele Ali will cost more than Coutinho IMO. Daniel Levy's a very shrewd business man he always gets top dollar for his players.
In fairness, the two players who balance it are both injured.
I hope Klopp will turn to Grujic. He's more dangerous to the oppo than Can or Wijnaldum. Adds a bit of size to the side too if he replaces Wijnaldum.
Is the third intouchable or what ?
It's as clear as day we need a major improvement defensively. Now, i've has an idea. Let's be real,Coutinho is leaving us for Barca either now or next summer, so how about we bring back Mascherano as part of the deal?
Mascherano sat in front of our defence and Van Dijk barking orders organising the defence, 2 men on either post, marking man-to-man is the way ahead.
Both of these men are leaders, winners. That's what this side needs. Desperately. We can thrive without Coutinho, (his fee would allow us to sign Van Dijk and Ziyech), however we cannot thrive while we continue conceding soft goals.(although 2 of those Watford goals were offside).
Norwegian Wood: this Asensio kid? Untouchable?
Winger/attacking midfielder from Real Madrid. I think he's around 20-21 years old. Most likely untouchable, yes.
Edit: he's really good, by the way. A wand of a left foot.
Yes, watched him again today. Lovely use of "wand".
Heaton or Butland, Mignolet is not good enough. A proper centre back and a commanding midfielder not afraid of a tackle. We are too soft, any team knows they can bully us, which is absolutely not acceptable. Klopp needs to have a good look at the way we defend, he has a lot to answer for.
I remember saying last season that Heaton should have been considered.Maybe we'll wise up and realize a keeper that can make saves, cope under pressure and keep clean sheets is better than one that can do a Cruyff turn twice a season and keep the entire crowd on the edge of their seats for a whole 90 minutes.
Wasn't me. But I wouldn't want him either.
